Actually, you seem to be the only one.I have never lived in Phoenix. Only out-of-staters generalize the entire metro area into one huge conglomerate. I live in Mesa or the East Valley, but never Phoenix.
This is the real Valley. If anyone says the The Valley here, they know it is the Phoenix Metro Area. Those that think otherwise can move back to whatever valley they think is important

I technically don't live within the city limits of Albuquerque, so I guess I can't say I live there even though that's the general term someone from the Albuquerque metro area would say. Lol. I live in Alameda, NM.

I see your point but people in Cave Creek will never say they live in Phoenix. Just an example. But I did say Phoenix.

Well, technically it is a basin so Wolfley is right about something.Also - thanks for using the full term "Valley of the Sun" to describe the area. "The Valley" is where I am originally from - the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, CA.

Yes, lived in Canton for 21 years. Grew up in a small town about 20 minutes from Lincoln.

I live about 1 hour and 10 minutes from Springfield.
My dad was a minister, so we moved about - was born in Canton, but lived at the time in London Mills.
Lived in various small towns (Macon, Sibley, Neponset before moving to Springfield, where I spent 5th grade through HS.

Lived in Murfreesboro TN the last 16 years but back in St Louis again. A town called Wentzville. I don’t meet many football Cardinal fans here and many are surprised I stayed with them. The Bidwill hate seems to have been replaced with Stan Kronke hate. The Rams super bowl win was a disaster for the people here.

I'm not a Cardinals fan and technically don't live in any city, township, etc.
However, this whole area is Phoenix.
Even the more disconnected and actually unique areas like Cave Creek are Phoenix.
Not to mention Glendale, Mesa, Peoria, etc - it's all Phoenix
Even want to be fancy places like Scottsdale - also Phoenix
No one outside of this area cares which section of sprawling tract developments and strip malls you actually reside in - most of the time you'd have no idea when you leave one and enter another if the signage didn't change
It's all Phoenix
