The Cards could easily win more than that but that is not the objective... do they want to win a Super Bowl is the question

IMO too early to make predictions. Free agency is not yet over and there still is the draft plus June cuts, etc. I'm not optimistic on the Cards so far but will wait.

Savvy on their part. Set the over/under around 9 now, sucker money in, and bank on the roster getting better. Chances are we'll have a winning record (by their rationale), so they should rake it in.

I'd bet the under and make bank.
I’m all in on the under. I’d be in if it was 7 1/2.

People keep saying this but there are no magic bullets coming. We know who's left in FA. It's all middle to end of the roaster guys. Counting on the draft is a joke with who's making the picks. June cuts might bring in one or two decent guys but it's not going to plug all of the holes on this team with quality. We're at the point now where, outside of the draft, you're mostly picking up the scrubs to fill out the roster. The only real hope in adding a big piece is through trade but we don't have a ton of capital to give up. Especially for how many holes there are to fill.

So you built your own case on making a prediction today. Go ahead and give it!!

I did earlier in the thread. :) I have them at 5 wins looking at who they play. That is with giving them an extra win since they'll end up beating someone that I don't expect them to.

I'm really thinking of throwing money at the under right now if it's at 8.5 or 9. I just need to figure out how to place a bet now. I never hear any advertising or anything on sports books these days. ;)

You might be able to make money on that. But that is why I choose not to bet. I will never place a bet on the Cardinals sucking, even though they may. But that is just me.

I think they will beat 5 wins but 9 wins.......nahh don't think so. Why can't you go to one of the local casinos (Like Talking Stick) for making a sports bet?? I know Vegas has these large sports betting areas but I really don't know what the local ones have. I'll still wait till late August to make my predictions but certainly won't put any money on as the Cards will do the opposite on whatever I bet on.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic on that part about placing the bet. If you turn on sports radio for 5 minutes you'll hear 30 commercials for them. I was assuming that everyone on here has been hearing them.

All this moaning about the roster. The roster will be good enough.

How good or how bad we are will, like most teams, come down to how good or bad Kyler is.

If we get game 1-7 Kyler from last year the team will make the playoffs and from there anything can happen. If we get week 14 onward Kyler we probably win 6-7 games.

How can you post this with a straight face? How do you propose we pressure the passer? Do you think we're going to get an EDGE high in the draft that VJ will be able to properly develop in time? A trade, a slag-heap signing? Same problems at WR, IOL, DL? These are positions where we clearly have less talent than last year. And last year we didn't have enough talent on this roster. So, how do you propose this roster will be good enough?

Because the roster isn't finished by a long way. As I have said many times. You're moaning about an unfinished painting because a) you like moaning and b) you don't have the patience to wait and see the final picture.

What have we lost at Edge? A guy that had 5 sacks in 16 games? You are judging the drop off at Edge based on what CJ was, not what he was last season (or the season before). Which was invisible in many games and complete garbage vs the run. He's not going to be as hard to replace as you think.

Every time I think we are in a hole at OLB a think about that play vs Carolina where they had a walk in touchdown from 5 yards. Where CJ had the Edge, saw the handoff yet still managed to somehow tackle the wrong man and let the ball carrier just walk in. And I think "Yeah, we haven't lost much more than a name". It was one of the worst plays I've ever seen from an Edge.

This play

All we have to replace in reality is 36 pressures, 5 sacks, 8 hurries and absolute atrocious run defense. I'm confident we can do that easily between Kennard and Gardeck even as things stand. Yet I expect they will add more along the D line yet.

And as I've said many times, we have the draft, with few high-end picks, and an absolute bleak crop of FAs left. Where are the needed upgrades going to come from? You only addressed one of those areas, and frankly not well at all. Chandler Jones wasn't what he used to be, but those are still numbers/pressure we need to replace, let alone a guy teams would game plan against. Your "less is more" idea is certainly less. We go into the season with what we have at edge, we'd better score 35+ per game. Even with some patchwork at edge, our defense will struggle.

How will we defend the run OR pass?

I disagree. There isn't a bleak crop of FA's left.

Clowney, Trey Flowers, and Houston can all add something at Edge. There are several quality CB's remaining who can improve the roster and OBJ, Juio, Green, Watkins don't make as any worse at WR than we were last year in fact all might be better.

Not that I want to be dipping into that pool to build the starting roster. I'd rather they improve the depth. Plus there will be more guys cut or put on the trade block in the coming weeks.

10 sacks and 36 pressures is not hard to replace. Especially when 5 of them were in one game. Gardeck had 7 sacks and 12 pressures in the 10% of snaps he played the season before last.

For me, what Keim is doing now is what he should have done every off season. FA is fools gold most of the time and signing guys like Jordan Philips have been huge wastes of cap.

You let the overpriced "stars" go to those desperate enough to over pay. You stay patient and use FA to find value that has potential starting upside but at worse is quality depth. You draft BPA for the holes you have remaining and if you still think you have holes you see what becomes available post draft or more likely look for good value trades where teams just took on a rookie that can replace a decent vet they have on the roster.

This is what good GM's do. It's how the Rams built the roster they have that we all keep wishing we had.

We’ve downgraded at pretty much every positional group outside of TE maybe, but yea the roster will definitely be good enough, lmao.

It’s funny reading you guys. I have never met a more gloomy group. Everyone saying “ill bet the under and make bank”. We’re the same people last year that said “I’ll bet the under and make bank” lol. The cardinals lost their 2 best players on both sides of the ball last year. If DHop stays healthy we win 2 more games last year. If Watt stayed healthy we win 2 more games. You can’t take major pieces off the board and expect us to be great. This year it will be the same thing. Are we healthy. Plus there could be trades. Kiem is good at those splash trades. I could see a Barkley trade happening. But we easily could win 11 games next year

Yeah, I hear that crap all the time. I don't pay any attention as I'm not into any forms of gambling.

So, we should expect to start contending in, what, 2 or 3 years after a nice, slow rebuild? Like, when our QB's cap hit is through the roof? Keim has painted us into a corner by not building a better roster for years. Now he doesn't have the time for the pragmatic approach. He's created too much of a talent deficit at key positions. Little patches at non-starting spots are certainly not going to be enough. If this kid does get his head turned around to become the QB we need him to be, we have to have a good enough team around him. And we do not, and most don't see how we can possibly.

Again Kyle seems to be trolling the Cardinals. The best lines for wins this season are the Packers and the Rams in the NFC and the line is only 11 wins for them. “But the Rams just spent a ton of cash and only are projected to win 11 games.”
