The South Dade High School graduate played in 10 games as a reserve his redshirt freshman season, making one tackle. Wiggins became a team leader as a sophomore, garnering second-team All-AAC notice by posting 54 tackles, five pass breakups and a team-high four interceptions -- three of which came at crucial times. Wiggins nabbed game-sealing interceptions against Ohio and in the team's Military Bowl win over Virginia Tech, and his pick-six in overtime beat SMU. Wiggins was expected to have a big 2019 campaign, but a preseason ACL tear forced him to the sidelines. He bounced back in 2020, garnering second-team Associated Press All-American and first-team All-AAC honors (32 tackles, one interception, six pass breakups). He did not play in the team's bowl game, though, because of an injury suffered in the AAC Championship Game. -- by Chad Reuter

Overview

Explosive tester with compact, muscular frame whose 2018 tape was simply better than what he put out in 2020 coming off his ACL injury. There is a good chance Wiggins will continue to find himself after another season removed from his injury. His short-area twitch and ability to quickly close on routes in front of him can be impressive. His 2018 ball production was no accident, as he frequently created opportunities for himself to make plays on the football, but he's much better moving forward than when asked to transition and cover lateral route breaks. He's tough and willing, but too small to cover NFL tight ends. In addition, his lack of reactive agility and length as an open-field tackler create concerns. He'll impress in a workout, but might have a ceiling as an NFL backup.
Strengths
  • Very explosive for his position.
  • Immense weight room strength and is an A+ tester with leaps and speed.
  • Plays with his feet under his pads.
  • Impressive ball production in 2018 with four interceptions and five other passes defensed.
  • Pure speed to range from hash and help over the top.
  • Twitched-up trigger to burst forward and challenge the throw.
  • Strikes pass catchers with force to jar pass loose.
  • Good physicality taking on blocks in space.
  • Keeps eyes on ball-carrier when attacking blocks.
  • Steps downhill with desired aggression in run support.
  • Returned kicks in 2018.
Weaknesses
  • Can improve route recognition.
  • Short-strider who fails to make up ground quickly in transitions.
  • Gave away would-be interceptions with drops.
  • Rarely turns to find the football when working down the field.
  • Will need to read run keys for quicker downhill charge.
  • Tight-hipped with limited reactive range as a tackler.
  • Lacking knock-back power for build.
  • Too small to cover tight ends.
  • Missed 2019 with an ACL tear.

I really like the pick. It's hard to believe the Cardinals drafted him in the 7th round. He is should further improve another year removed from ACL surgery.
