Alex Verdugo of the Red Sox suggests that baseball change its philosophy
of home runs or strikeouts, to make the game less boring.

I am so glad to see that! I have advocated that every player's go-to swing
should be line drives to the gaps in left-center or right-center.

With a selective home run swing only if and when a pitch looks inviting and
the situation calls for it.

Is there any hope that it will catch on? If so, it would probably take years
for it to become prevalent.

banning the shift will help. many hall of famers wouldn't be hall of famers with the current level of defensive shifting that goes on, it almost incentives home runs and strikeouts

Or... “Hit em where they ain’t”

Exactly. Working on breaking the shift with working on hitting where they ain't. Wouldnt you think a pro bball player would working on hitting to the first base side if the infield always shifted to the third base side?
