Developing story; Houston is considering trading Watson to the Dolphins for Tua (and presumably draft compensation). Watson sounds like he’s 100% done in Houston. Crazy.

Wow! If i read this correctly, the Texans would have $67M in dead money if they trade Watson. Crazy that Schefter & Mortensen didn't address that in reporting the rumor. It would seem to be completely infeasible for the Texans, even if Watson refuses to play.

Rumors spread that Urban Meyer is close to taking the Jacksonville Jaguars job

It’s no secret that the Jaguars coaching job is Urban Meyer’s if he wants it. There’s a growing sense in league circles that he does.

Rumors are spreading late Tuesday/early Wednesday that Meyer is close to taking the job, and that if he does he’d likely retain interim G.M. Trent Baalke.

This is a window into word that’s making the rounds in league circles, specifically among coaches. It’s not a report that Meyer has taken the job. It’s a head’s up, a peeling back of the curtain, insight into the chatter that’s currently making the rounds.

It’s clear that the Jaguars have essentially shut down their search as they speak with Meyer. They interviewed Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith on Sunday night, but the request was made before they interviewed Meyer on Friday. There’s no real cost to going through with it; if nothing else, they had a chance to pick the brain of a guy who, if he doesn’t leave the Titans, will remain in the division next year.

The Jaguars have done nothing to push back on the perception/reality that Meyer has become the team’s first choice for the job, even as reports have spread that Meyer has made calls to potential staff members and General Managers.

As of Monday, the feeling was he’d wait until after Ohio State played in the National Championship to finalize things. And, like so many other situations of this nature (and as a team like the Colts well knows), it’s not done until it’s done.

Baker Mayfield, wife Emily take dying Browns fan to final regular season game, make the playoffs

A GoFundMe was then set up in his name and he was able to reach out to Emily Mayfield. The Browns quarterback then got involved after the chance connection.

"You’re extremely inspirational, man, you’re a warrior. Just want to say, keep fighting. Appreciate your support and we’ll see what happens when we get into the playoffs, we'll see if we make those dreams come true, bud," Mayfield said in a video posted to Seipel’s Instagram page.

Emily Mayfield also offered Seipel seats in her suite at FirstEnergy Stadium for him and his dad.

Robert Saleh is the new head coach of the Jets. Per twitter.

The New York Jets, coming off one of the worst seasons in franchise history, have reached an agreement in principle with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to be their next head coach, the team announced Thursday night.

The agreement is for five years, leagues sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Saleh, 41, who interviewed virtually last Friday, quickly established himself as the Jets' front-runner. On Tuesday, he flew to New Jersey for a second interview. On Thursday, the Jets concluded a second interview with Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. At that point, the Jets held internal discussions and decided to make an offer to Saleh, a source said.

There was plenty of competition for Saleh, who received interview requests from six of the seven teams in the NFL head-coaching market.

Saleh is expected to take 49ers passing-game coordinator Mike LaFleur -- the brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur -- with him as his offensive coordinator, sources told Schefter.

Saleh, who is Lebanese American, will join Brian Flores of the Miami Dolphins, Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ron Rivera of the Washington Football Team as active minority head coaches in the league. The 49ers will receive two third-round compensatory draft picks as part of the NFL's new hiring initiatives to incentivize an expansion of the candidate pool.

Spurrier brought his College concepts to the NFL and refused to adapt, adjust. Don't see this as an issue for Meyer.
Maybe I need to read more on spurrier but what little I did read...Spurrier refused to play the QB(Ramsey) upper management wanted. that was one of spurriers downfall.

if The Jags start meddling with Urban Meyers roster decisions...then I can see Meyer flaming out in two years.

Report: Ravens’ Marcus Peters fined for logo celebration vs. Titans
The perceived payback the Baltimore Ravens were notching when they celebrated and stomped on the Tennessee Titans’ logo following an interception by cornerback Marcus Peters has come with a price.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Peters has been fined $15,000 after celebrating on the logo and for his “physical actions directed at the Tennessee bench.”

More likely than not, celebrating on the logo itself wasn’t where Peters ran into a problem considering none of his other teammates who took part were fined, but rather it was a result of his “physical actions.”

The Philadelphia Eagles are engulfed in the process of trying to hire a head coach and according to Mke Garafalo, Carson Wentz will come with the job.

The report from Garafalo dropped amid rumors that Wentz was “uncoachable” and “insubordinate” at times in regards to running the plays called by head coach Doug Pederson.
