On his podcast he mentioned would pressed that he would be willing to move to safety if he lost a step or two. Resign the man and switch his position!

And what's he gonna do when it's just him and a running back running at him full steam ahead and he's the last line of defense?

First we don't know for sure who will be here in a couple years and how do we know that PP wouldn't be a good safety?
Because he’ll be getting older & not younger?

This Peterson-to-safety talk gotta stop when we already have a good duo of safeties.

Lol peterson had a good game. Gave up 1 big pass to Diggs where Allen had a perfect throw and Diggs layed out for thr catch.

We need to extend peterson. He playing at a probowl level.

Those two dropped passes hurt.

We’ve found PP’s agent folks!
Just common sense. Watch the guy play a whole game. His coverage is good even when he gives up a score. Murphy got roasted today my Beasley and missed multiple tackles. P2 had a pick, multiple passes defended and people make silly posts. People are still upset he asked for a trade during the wilks era. So I guess it is what it is. But he's still playing at a high level.

Travdavious white of the bills had a good game as well, even though he gave up a hail mary td.

He got really beat at the LOS during that red one Beasley touchdown...that stutter step nearly broke his feet

Exactly.

Does anyone remember when Peterson has ever put a hard hit on anyone? He is/was good at covering but watch him when he is around the ball.. its like he doesn’t want to make contact. There are times I see him and instead of shedding the block its like he allows the receiver to hold on so he doesn’t have to go help. The guy would rather escort someone out of bounds giving up a few more yards.

I like him in coverage but if the ball is ran his way he ain’t doing much. I just don’t see him as a guy thats willing to get dirty and throw his body at someone like an A Dub or Buddah.

he didn't want to turn up field on the one int he did get - drove me crazy...but I get it...He avoids contact. That is fine - keep the likes of diggs to the stats given up last night and we cool.

I was yelling for him to go up the sideline. He has the speed but he’s got this I’m elusive crap in his head.

First one i couldn't tell if the bill player got a piece. Second one for sure. The pick changed the tied of the game.

Like many others here I keep piling on Vance for the soft zone / huge cushion off man he plays so much.

But then I see P2 get burned by Cole Beasley on a simple inside out when P2 is pressing at the line, then again by Diggs for what looked like the game winning TD, and I have to wonder if that's why he plays this scheme so much.

Saftey? ... Saftey? P2 shy's away from having to tackle! He'll never be a saftey.

unlike Rod Woodson, or Aeneas Williams -- who were outstanding tacklers -- P2 is not very good. That isnt a good attribute for a safety

P2 got a free pass from the league for years based on his rep that he was a shut-down corner. The irony of that is if you don't throw his way, your WR doesn't make any plays and the rep is verified. We're now seeing more and more teams refusing to take their best WR out of the game based on P2's reputation and are now challenging P2.

P2 can still make some plays, but he can also give them up as well. A few years ago on this forum, I pointed out some of the things that are now going up as agreed upon by many posters. I got hammered back then for daring to critique P2. That included P2's avoidance of contact. Even if a CB is assigned shut-down responsibilities, he is still required to turn and defend the goal lines after the play goes in a different direction. Look at game film and you'll see P2 sticking to his man even after the ball goes to another offensive player---P2 is still sticking to his WR even after the WR has stopped his route. Check the scrum around a running play and P2 is an observer from a distance. Check goal-line stands and P2 is moon-walking into the endzone and away from contact. There is a reason P2 doesn't have many fumbles forced or fumble recoveries on his career stats---those plays require mixing it up and fighting for the ball. Instead of attacking a screen pass or sweep and blowing up the lead blocker, at best P2 will moon-walk and try to slow down the play long enough for the other D players to make the attack and the tackle. Of course, that tacks on plenty of extra yards gained as P2 dances with the lead blocker down the sideline. The notion that P2 can shift over to playing safety is half-right---he still has the speed and experience for passing plays. But running plays that require him to attack the ball carrier . . . I don't think so. When was the last time you saw that? Do you really think P2 is going to attack a TE or RB with a full head of steam at the goal line and make the stop? BB will, P2 not so much.

Primetime Sanders was the ultimate cover CB. For years, teams didn't dare throw his way. When he got older, teams understood that they could now throw to their best WR. One effect of that was Sanders suddenly started getting tackles on his game sheet. He had to make the tackle because the WR was making the catch. The same thing is now happening with P2.

P2 is no longer his cover corner rep, he's now an experienced CB with limitations. He should now be in the mix with our other CBs and not under special status as a shut-down corner. He's still good enough to start and when a weaker CB is on the other side, he will still be avoided. But that's not because he's is shutting down the WR, it's because our other corner is giving up easy yards. In the last SeaTurkey game, Lockett was up against Dre (who was playing with an injury) and P2 was on Metcalf. Lockett had a career game and Metcalf had little to show for it. Was it P2 or was it Dre's injury that had the ball going to Lockett and not to Metcalf.

Let's see what happens this Thursday with Metcalf. He got shut down by the Rams cover-corner this Sunday. Will P2 be able to do that now that a more healthy Dre is on the other side?
