Strong Opinion Sports has the Cardinals as one of the most improved teams but included in his piece is a very high opinion of Evan Weaver.

Lots of love for Evan Weaver in the video.

Also liked where he talked about opponents defenses being "screwed" having to guard the Cardinals receiving corp.

I would have much rather gone Quartney Davis or Myles Bryant.

They at least have some upside.

Maybe we can still get them though.

I think you mean Hunter Bryant who was undrafted.

Quartney Davis? Does he beat out anyone? I think the Cardinals dont think so.

Evan Weaver can beat out Gardeck.

Nah, Myles Bryant. The CB from Washington. Hunter Bryant is too injury prone.

I think he beats out all the WRs drafted last year.

I guess. Still don’t like the pick at all though.

Exactly.

The later rounds is where you go for guys with upside.

He has none.

Not that bad I guess. Just a 6th rounder.

Or you draft football players who dont appear to have upside.

You can draft a guy who sucks but runs a 4.5 but basically runs a 4.9 because he is always out of position, or draft a guy who runs a 4.7 but is a football smart guy.

A tiny slow corner with short arms?

You complain about drafting the PAC 12 defensive player of the year because he doesnt have ideal measurables and then say you'd draft a guy with even even worse measurables at his position who has very little chance to make the roster.

A 5'8 corner who runs a 4.6...

Evan Weaver can beat out Gardeck.

I think he will.

Its clear Gardeck will never be anything but ST's. If Weaver can fill that role he beats him out due to upside.

Dream scenario is he turns out to be something like Zack Thomas.

Most likely though he'll be a serviceable run stuffing backup MLB and good special teams player.

Real good value IF he makes the team considering who we have behind Hicks in terms of depth.
My nit-picker is showing:

Dude won't be a MLB. He'll be an ILB because Cards run a 3-4.

I’m so confused as to where this 40 time talk even came from. I don’t even know who initiated it.

When I watched Myles, I watched a guy with great quickness, scrappiness, & plays way bigger than his frame. Would’ve loved to see him picked up here.

When I see Weaver, it’s just this all over again(I almost got suckered in too). Weaver really doesn’t look all at that faster in games than Scooby to me. https://www.arizonasportsfans.com/forum/threads/scooby-wright.229847/

Evan Weaver(like Scooby) are the most relatable type of athletes so I get the love.

This kid looks nothing like Scooby Wright on the field, so I don't get the comparisons. If anything, if he can scratch his way into a Lorenzo Alexander type player, which I think he can - it would be a great pick.
