Here's another country artist I'm very fond of who also floats under the radar in the US despite several decades of great music.

Cash fans might like this song by The Derailers, it was written in tribute to Johnny shortly after he died.

This kid just hypnotizes me. There is so much going on in his hands.

OK, I know it's not a music video, but it is music to my ears.

This guy would have been a country legend had he been on the radio in the 60's, 70's or 80's. This isn't his best song but it's typical of his style and it's a little like watching an episode of Criminal Minds or some other procedural.

super underwhelmed. This sounds like someone doing an impression of an old country singer to me.

the song? Cheap Stan rip off.

I’m really feeling this song. Some real emotion right there.

I need to add this Creedence Clearwater Revival song, Midnight Special, to my library.

I did mention it wasn't his best stuff but no, I wouldn't say he's doing an impression of an old country singer and it isn't a Stan ripoff. Dallas might be a throwback to an earlier era but he was singing like that in the 80's and 90's too, that's just who he is. As for ripping off Eminem, if anything they both ripped off the stalker from The Bodyguard or any of several procedurals that covered the same territory. But sure, he's not everybody's cup of tea.

I've always been a fan of Doug Sahm. I like the Texas Tornados a lot but I still prefer his (and Augie's) earlier work in the Sir Douglas Quintet. If you listen to a song like "The Rains Came" from 1965, you'll hear the footprint for his later music with the Texas Tornados.

Here's one of my favorite sub 2 minute songs, a country tune from the mid 90's by Dale Watson. Not that he's exactly the same as these guys, but if you don't like Merle Haggard or Johnny Cash in their prime, this probably won't interest you.

Somehow I missed this song the first time around. Added it to my music library.

"3 Doors Down - Kryptonite"
