In Glazer's weekly mailbag on the Athletic, his first question was, "What team or teams can make the jump next year in being a bottom team to Super Bowl-bound?" His answer was:
"It’s early because we haven’t had free agency yet and we certainly haven’t had the draft but for now, as a very early pick, I’d say the Cardinals. Kyler Murray will have an extra year of maturity under his belt and if they put some extra pieces there, they can make a nice little jump."

How I could see this playing out is that the Cardinals keep major free agents, add a good young starting right tackle, one of the young receivers becomes a good receiver, a defensive free agent works out well, and a 2nd or 3rd round defensive player is good right away.

For all those things to work out is asking a lot, but it's not impossible.

Who expected a 4 win team from 2018 to be in this year's Super Bowl.
Maybe not the Super Bowl, but I definitely expected the 49ers to contend for the division. But one of my closest friends is a die hard Niners fan so I knew the ins and outs of the team if they all stayed healthy.

I'd say the Redskins.

Much depends on what happens at QB. Either Smith coming back or Haskins making a big leap.

They have $25m in space right now but 2 easy cap casualties in Norman and Reed that gets them another $21m.

With Rivera and Chase Young I expect them to build a strong D to take the pressure off the offense. I could see them making a playoff run.

We need to add a OLB, ILB, a DE and a DT. That could by any combination of free agency and draft. Alford needs to come back healthy, PP has to play with meaning, Thompson takes another step forward. And we have to stay healthy.

Keep the offense together. That means Humphries and Drake stays OR are replaced by a BETTER player.

Two of our WR’s have to step up( other than Fitz). Kirk has to blossom and it would be outstanding if Butler was the wr that would step up. That being said it might be Juedy or Lamb.

As with ANY team, staying healthy is imperative. Two years ago our o-line was devestated. Last year it was our D-line, and our db’s considering Alford and PP’s suspension.

Let’s stop short of Super Bowl. A winning season even if we missed the playoffs would be great. 9-7 is realistic and doesn’t guarantee a playoff birth. However I do know a Cardinal team that went 9-7 and... just sayin’.

Well when you put it like that....

The difference is the Niners had a strong roster but no QB whereas we have a strong QB and no roster.

I have no idea how you can say the Niners have no QB.

he is talking about in the year before when they had like 4 wins. Jimmy was injured. They had no QB.

this is plausible, not sure about likely

I think K1 will be better, but I am pegging 2021 as my high expectations for him year. Sometimes forgotten is that he basically had one year of experience in college -- I think it may take another years worth of NFL experience for him ( and KK) to be fully ready.

Superbowl...I don't see it. Playoffs, absolutely.

We had a legit shot at winning 9 games this year...and that was with a horrible defense and rookie QB/HC. Add in another year of experience, and building to address weaknesses and I think we should expect 10 wins and a wild card spot next year.

We absolutely should be contending for a playoff spot late in the season. Once you get in anything can happen. That is why I don't get the build for 2021 nonsense.

I said HAD. The reason they picked so high last year and now make the SB was Jimmy G being out 13 games. It's not the same for us.

Us making the playoffs isn't wholly in our control. It also depends on 2 of 3 very good teams getting worse.

If you make the playoffs, you can make the SB. Tennessee was a game away.

I get it. I just think to ask this coach/QB and roster in general to win 3 playoff games next year might be very wishful thinking.

I would count next year as a huge success if we made the playoffs and won a game.
