‘Frozen 2′ Officially A Go, Disney Says

http://deadline.com/2015/03/frozen-2-announced-disney-1201391530/

Bob Iger made the announcement just now at the Disney shareholder meeting, where they are showing that Frozen short to stockholders before it goes out tonight in front of the company’s Cinderella in theaters. Frozen co-directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will both be involved in the sequel, Iger says.

Frozen, released in 2013, broke records both in the U.S. and in Japan when it bowed around Thanksgiving. The animated film has grossed $400.7 million domestically and $873.4 million internationally for a total worldwide take of over $1.2 billion.

The Disney marketing machine is an impressive device no doubt.

Check out the summer of 2017:

May 5, 2017 "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" (Marvel)
May 26, 2017 "Star Wars: Episode VIII" (Lucasfilm)
June 16, 2017 "Toy Story 4" (Pixar)
July 7, 2017 "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" (Disney)
July 28, 2017 untitled Spider-Man movie (Marvel / Sony Pictures)

Wow! 2017 movies are going to be fun!

What's even more crazy is how much they have made in merchandise. Probably double what the movie made.

geez.

after the non stop singing the first 30 minutes, I enjoyed the rest of frozen. However, I don't see any reason to make a sequel beyond money. the story was told and is done. No thanks.

LOL

Like kids movies are dependent on stories...

Kids movies are motivated by one thing: MONEY. And lots of it. And Frozen 2 could be record-breaking.

The great kids movies are dependant on stories.

Either way, just saying it didnt leave room for sequels to me, I liked the first one but have zero interest in another one.

I did say its simply a money grab and I understand and have no problem with that, just wont get my money.

There's always room for a sequel. Viability ($$$) of sequels can usually be determined by opening weekend.

As for Frozen, I could see a fire & ice type story with Anna & Elsa. But, it doesn't matter since once the kids get wind of it... Yeesh

About what I thought. My 4 year old liked it.

I thought it was good. Liked it better than the first one. The Christoph song was funny.

My nieces (4th grade and 2nd grade) and my daughter (4 years old) loved it. I like that Disney is putting out some women who aren't dependent on a prince. I am all about those movies!

Wife & I really liked it. A+ on everything except the lack of an iconic song like Let It Go.

Idina Menzel can friggin' sing!

Yeah I totally agree.

Last week as a joke I started playing the original Frozen on Disney + with my Teen son in the room. He got a laugh out of it and fairly quickly headed out to play his Xbox. I ended up getting hooked and watching the entire thing again.

So this past weekend we decided to go see Frozen II. I just couldn't get into the story like the original and the songs all felt forced to me. Plus the story felt very predictable this time around. There were a few moments that I enjoyed but it was nowhere near as good as the first one IMO.

I've been walking around singing that Lost in the Woods song all week. lol That was so freakin funny. I'm so proud that I've exposed my kids to enough 80's stuff that they got the humor in that scene.
