In looking over tonight's lineup . . .

The good news is that Marte, with his 32 HR, is batting third instead of leadoff
and in a position to drive in runs. If only it would last for more than one game.

The bad news is that Lamb, with his putrid .199 BAVG, is still starting games,
and batting fifth to make it worse.

And, of course, the other bad news is that Kelly is batting 8th, ahead of the
pitcher, and seeing no good pitches to hit. I will post it as long as Lovullo
keeps going back to it.

For the good of the team, the power hitting bat of Kelly should be fifth in
our lineup, ahead of Lamb, Jones and Ahmed. Especially with the D-backs
averaging 1.5 runs per game over this recent losing streak.

I mean, isn't that common sense? Is Torey in such a state of denial that he
puts his ego ahead of winning games? There is a problem there, folks!

After one good season as manager, these last two are "2 games over .500"
consistently.

It's scary!

Aw, geez. Torey's comments to the Press.

-- He doesn't know what is causing the lack of driving in runs.

-- He is going to stick with the course.

If something is not working, isn't it time to change the course?

Of course, if you don't have a clue, how are you going to solve it?

I'm not making this up. I just saw the clip as the game is about to begin.

There was an old joke. You heard of Bob Hope?
Here is his cousin No Hope.

First two D-backs hitters get on base -- hit by pitch.

I guess we're seeing the team's new strategy.

Lamb is still going to get starts before the season is done. No way Lovullo had him gathering dust on the bench. Additionally the Dbacks are done so it isn't like playing him is going to hurt.

Starting Ray is the moronic thing to me at this point.

Escobar with a 1-out single to load the bases for Lamb,
who gets hit by the pitch. D-backs lead 1-0. 3 HBP.

Jones hits into a double play with the bases loaded.

What you've pointed out is an excellent reason for giving a bunch of starts to . . . Kevin Cron, who is sitting on the bench. And has a lot more potential than Lamb and Walker together.

Except by your own observations Lamb is the veteran so he will start ahead of Cron. The argument could be made that you hand the rest of the year to Lamb, hope he gets hot and try and sucker someone into trading for him (I have no idea what his contact status is).

Even if Lamb "gets hot", every GM knows that he would be a horrible investment.

Every season has ended in disappointment, either by slumping or being hurt.

I don't know what you mean by my own observation. I have been campaigning
for the Minor League's top power hitter, Cron, to be given a chance at 1B.

Do you baby a loser? Or give a chance to a winner? My choice is clear!

There has to be more to Torey burying Cron than what we see. Will we ever
find out?

Lopez just stinks now and Chafin not helping. The dbacks were up 3 to 0 not its ties 3 to 3 in the top of the 7th.

Yoshi now in and gets a 2 run single hot off of him. Down 5-2 now. Horrible pitching.

Actually, Escobar had a solo HR in the 6th, so it's 5-3.

But, yes, Lopes giving up hits, Chafin's throwing error on an infield hit
and Yoshi giving up runs as well were horrible.

But wait, as the thunder starts in the Valley, the D-backs
still have some life vs. the hapless Marlins.

A hit, a bad throw and another hit and a run is in. 5-4.

Tying run on 1B with no outs.

Who wants to lose this game less?

A walk and a Marlins pitching change. Tying run on 2B
and a potential lead run on 1B. Still no outs.

C'mon, D-backs hitters. Show us something.

Or, at least, let Marte, coming up next, show
you something.

Lamb now batting a cool .196...

These guys already look like they want the season to be over , the way they have laid down over the last three weeks or so is embarrassing

Ooh, Ketel hits it down the right field line . . . but it's foul.

Then a fly out just short of the pool. Runner advances to 3B.

Escobar up with 2 outs.

Escobar walks on a full count load the bases for Mendoza-line Lamb.

Close your eyes, Jake. Maybe you'll hit one.
