Ah, today the Catcher is batting 6th, not directly ahead of the Pitcher. Up, down, up, down, up, down.

Please, Torey, keep it "up". Maybe we need to get him some Viagra.

Give it a chance. Let it gel. It's called having the courage of your convictions.

Wow, a win on 1 hit. Nice to break the losing streak, horrible way of doing it with just one hit that was an Ahmed triple.

Our starting pitching (Kelly) and relieving (Ginkel and Archie), came through.

It is difficult to conceive how, in this age of juiced baseballs, a winning team
could do so with only one hit,

Then, I saw Cincy showing the same stubbornness as the D-backs have,
making outs by hitting directly into the shift, despite the other side of
the infield being wide open.

I can't begin to understand what goes through the minds of management
and players in that position. But I can guess that it has something to do
with all of these instant millionaires playing for their next contract.

It seems to be a microcosm of society. Live for today. Don't be concerned
about tomorrow. The problem being that tomorrow will then be the next
today. And on and on. For the past half century.

Part of me wants to stop honoring that mentality among our most visible
people. But professional sports is supposed to be a diversion from all of
that and, for 67 years, since I was 11, I've been hooked.

Such is life! :notworthy:

I would guess it has something to do with winning a ballgame with one hit (baserunner) all game
. . . during Arizona monsoon on a Saturday.

EDIT: That is what Steve confirmed at the start of Sunday's telecast. (Except for the monsoon
part, of course.) :)

Thank you for supporting my point. It takes more than one game for a move to gel.

Avila is back to batting eighth this next game. And he didn't get one good pitch his
first at-bat.

That's my major gripe with Lovullo. He makes a move, then abandons it the next day.

Every day is a new beginning. Every game is Spring Training mentality.

It looks like desperation management. Another manager learning (or not) on the job,
so Sarver and his cronies can hold on to their as much of their billion dollar windfall
as possible.

We need a manager who can teach, not have to learn. One with credentials. National
League credentials.
