Marte seemed to be OK yesterday after the twinge Wednesday while running out a HR.

But he did make an awkward catch in the outfield yesterday.

I wonder if his sitting out today's game was planned in advance or if he is not 100%.

I highly doubt the team is “saving” Marte at this stage of the season... If he’s healthy, he’s playing. If he’s not on the lineup, he’s not healthy... period.

And if he's somewhat in between?

Not everything is simple black and white.

Ballplayers are expected to play through pain.

Unless it aggravates and prolongs the injury.

Why did you put the word saving in quotes?

Whom are you quoting in your response? Not me.

Perhaps this reflects Bert constantly talking as if
we are on the brink of being a playoff team, when
we clearly are not.

At this stage of the season and being only 4.5 games out of a playoff slot, the best players play, unless they can’t. It’s really that simple.

I have been helping my son with some stuff online. But I have the game on in the background.

The Dodgers scored two in the 2nd and one in the 3rd. The D-backs are being one-hit after 4.

This is the site for Friday's game isn't it? OK, I'm just waiting for our patented 4-run rally.

We're halfway there. Escobar with another HR. A 2-run shot with no one out in the bottom of the 6th.

New pitcher, Baez, for the Dodgers.

Lamb with a 1-out triple. But he is left stranded.

3-2 Dodgers going to the top of the 7th.

McFarland pitching his second inning.

And Rojas misplays an out into a double in LF.

Steve mentioning that he is primarily an infielder.

Runners on 1st & 3rd and no one out.

Pollock pinch hitting.

Genkel in to pitch and Vargas goes to 2B,
moving Escobar to 3B.

AJ strikes out. Infield in double play position for Pederson.

Ginkel, a righty, facing lefties.

Popup.

And a slap single to the opposite field makes it 4-2 Dodgers.

John Rojas with a makeup. A 2-out 2-run HR (his first Major League HR) and we're tied 4-4 with two outs.

Escobar with a single. He's a triple shy of the cycle. Three straight hits. And a pitching change.

Yup, the D-backs patented late rally. So far, in two installments.

Locastro, in on a double switch, reaches 1B on a strikeout, then steals 2B.

Jones with a single. Runners on 1st & 3rd. No one out and a tie score.

Ahmed chases one way outside. One out. Avila up.

And the go-ahead run is balked home. Take 'em as you get 'em.

Jones now on 2B. But Avila strikes out for the second out.

I think the Dodger pitcher has struck out 4 out of the last 5,
but we've scored the go-ahead run.

And a popup ends the inning.

Backup catcher Martin gets hit by the pitch and a pinch-runner comes in.

Will Smith pinch hitting and Archie strikes him out.

And Pederson strikes out for the 2nd out.

Archie's curve ball and changeup are working. 'Long time coming.

The Red Menace is on deck and is now coming up following a base hit.

Battle of the red beards.

Archie strands two and the D-backs win 5-4.

The D-backs 5th consecutive win and 8 out of 11.

Hmmm, maybe Steve is right and the D-backs are
going to continue making a run.

We've jumped over the Giants, Mets and Brewers.

Great win tonight. I love seeing Locastro in this team. He's such a stud player.

I hope they keep him on the team for years to come. Don't let him walk away next year.

Great win. The DBacks battle back and do not give up. This team has heart. I missed the entire game as it was Friday night date night with my better half. I did record it to watch today.
