Had to happen... he's been trying to go the no-surgery route ever since he first went on the IL. They'll pay him $7 Million or so next season and hope he can meaningfully contribute.

Should've traded him while they still could.

After the first stretch in the IL his numbers were horrid. He simply wasn't going to fetch much and this injury may doom his career given his age.

I think the Dbacks were paralyzed with trading him because of his popularity and they couldn't entertain the idea after trading Goldy.

He will recover and have a decent year next year and it will probably be his last. If he doesn't recover well from this, he will probably retire and as a dback. I'm fine with that!
