D-backs visit Brewers as NL wild-card race heats up
https://sports.yahoo.com/d-backs-visit-brewers-nl-wild-card-race-225018687--mlb.htmlThe series is highly important to Arizona, which sits 1 1/2 games behind Milwaukee in the wild-card chase.
The Diamondbacks lost three of four to the Brewers last month in Phoenix, allowing 27 runs in the series.
Arizona also has experienced issues in Milwaukee, as it has lost five straight at Miller Park.
We're now 5 games back of the 2nd Wild Card...with 5 other teams battling for the slot. Anything is possible of course. And, this team has a knack for getting off the canvass each time I think they're down for the count...
That said, I really wouldn't be surprised if we're barely able to scratch out just one win in Milwaukee...and if that happens, I think it'd be safe to say the season is over.
I agree with your assessment, 82.
They say that good pitching beats good hitting. That seems to spell the doom of
the 2019 Diamondbacks. For several reasons.
1) Our starting rotation at this time is sub-par. All are #3 to #5 (or worse) pitchers,
including our default "ace", Robbie Ray, and his high pitch counts.
2) We have been at the mercy of the other team's starter. And it is getting worse
now at crunch time. We are losing to rookies and opposing pitchers who have
high earned run averages against the rest of the league.
3) As bad as our starting pitching is, when the D-backs bring starters up from the
Minors, they have to change their routine, sitting in the bullpen waiting to pitch
a few innings sporadically, rather than pitch every five days, as they have been
conditioned to do.
All this talk about jumping over five teams and grabbing the Wild Card spot must
be heard by the players, too. Just like their home run swings, they seem to be
going for all or nothing. It is, as you say, not going to be all. That leaves nothing.
Our Manager, Pitching Coach and Hitting Coaches do not properly fit this team.
It happens!

Those are some awful home uniforms.
Oh and Merrill Kelly is doing his usual bang up job
White on white. It's ghostly. Those are some awful home uniforms.
Dude is a bum, he won't be in the rotation next season.
