Gallen starting where he left off against the Rockies in Colorado.

21 pitches, two runners on base and got out of it with a double
play grounder.

Jake Lamb is hitting .218. He's been back from injury for quite a while.

I wouldn't want him as my cleanup hitter, but .218? That's horrible!
As marginal a fielder as he is, and I hate to :deadhorse2:but maybe,
just maybe, his inability to get into a groove at bat is caused by
being unable to settle into a a role.

He starts at 3B. Or he starts at 1B. Or he's on the bench. He's
taken out for defensive purposes at two positions.

If he were a platoon player, especially as a LH hitter, he'd have
a routine. Start most of the games at one position vs. RHP. He'd
know days in advance what his role would be.

They say that people are creatures of habit. There is a comfort
in it. Jake Lamb does not have that comfort. Nor do the other
4 or 5 D-backs who are part of the same guessing game.

But none of the others are hitting .218. That is the point of
this post. As much as Torey tries to please his entire roster,
maybe he is pleasing no one at all.

There is a long history of Major League baseball teams naming
their starters and their bench players, with everyone knowing
their roles.

Sabermetrics is out of control. As a fan, I know that it, especially
with most players stubbornly hitting into the shift, is ruining my
enjoyment of the game.

I'd be surprised if he was on our roster next season.

Meanwhile, the game has been eventless. Galen had settled down.
But he has walked three of the last four batters with two outs.
1-0 Rockies.

Gallen is at 71 pitches after 4 innings. Last time he needed 98 to
get through 4 innings vs. the Rockies at Coors.

It baffles me how a major league pitcher cannot throw a strike on command. If you have bases loaded you need to at least put fastballs low and keep it on the ground.

Back in 1960, I left Phoenix for a year to re-join a previous company,
who had relocated to Albuquerque, as Director of Operations.

There is a street in both Phoenix and Albuquerque called Acoma.

In Phoenix, it is pronounced aCOMA. In Albuquerque, it is ACKoma.

The Suns hitters tonight, as many of their games. are in a coma! :(

Jake just three-hopped a throw from 3B to 1B. The runner is safe.

Poor Jake!

Marte has walked as the second batter of the game and that's our offense.

And Gallen just got out of another jam, leaving two runners on base.

Another mediocre pitcher coming in here and the dbacks make him look like a Cy young candidate

Yeah, like the Giants pitcher with a 5+ ERA that blanked us for two hits. Good teams will find ways to take advantage of lousy pitching matchups, we are not a good team.

There's a blond woman behind the Diamondbacks' on deck circle who looks like she should be a cheesy TV psychic.

Check posts 7 and 14. It's .218. Now it's down to .215.

I wonder how that fits into D-backs sabermetrics.

Carson breaks up the no-hitter to start the bottom of the 6th.

And a diving catch in LF off the bat of Rojas pinch-hitting.

A 2-run HR by Marte. 2-1 D-backs.

'Not just leading the league in hits,
but he is a clutch hitter.

So, it will be up to the bullpen.

Starting with Ginkel.

Spiderman Ahmed goes high in the air
to take a base hit away from Story.

1-2-3 for Ginkel.

The Freight Train leads off the bottom of the 7th with a double.

New pitcher Tinoco for the Rockies.

Peralta stranded.

I hate that teams don't play small ball anymore. Specially on a close game. Peralta lead off double. Next guy could bunt him over and then the next guy try to sacrifice in the run.

Instead they come in trying to blast home runs and everyone pops out.
