Rumors swirl as Ray starts for Diamondbacks against O's
Left-hander Robbie Ray will look to win his fourth straight start -- and perhaps his last in an Arizona uniform -- when the Diamondbacks host the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

Ray (8-6, 3.92 ERA) has career numbers of 43-44 and a 4.03 ERA in his six major league seasons, the last five with the Diamondbacks. Since the start of the 2017 season, however, he's 29-13 with a 3.51 ERA, and he's also believed to be among the hottest commodities heading into this year's July 31 trade deadline.

Reports list several contenders interested in his services, notably the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, Philadelphia Phillies, Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros.

First pitch is set for 6:40 p.m. Arizona time
Could someone please clue in Lovullo regarding his 25 member family that resides in the clubhouse. They are not all good players. I'm tired of all the talk that "all the ingredients are here". They've been there for 100 games. Of which you have won 50. That is called
mediocre. This so-called manager has his head up his ass and is afraid to hurt a players feelings telling them their performances stink! Lovullo thinks his bullpen has done some "outstanding" work. Really?? Look at the last 4 games. They collectively stink! If they do not sweep the O's and the Marlins then call it quits 'cuz the wildcard will be just another of Lovullo's pipe dreams for his solid club.

Perhaps this recent spectacle of his bullpen will bring it to a head for him and his pitching coach Mike Butcher.

Who knows what has been going on behind the scenes but, for D-backs fans, it appears that the Front Office
has not been able to improve the situation.

In other words, it is a good thing that the bullpen has bottomed out to make it clear that change is needed.

I believe Butcher will at least make it through the season...if not longer.

IMO it is 100% he finishes the season. Next year the odds aren't as good and depends on how much TL digs his heels in. The starters have actually pitched pretty well and injuries have really hampered that group.

How do you reconcile how well the starters have generally performed vs the bullpen as related to Butcher? Seems to me he has gotten more out of the patchwork rotation than anyone would have expected.

The bullpen has been a wreck but how much is actual talent vs coaching?

And I see that The Little General is no longer their manager.

Their current manager was previously a Cub's coach.

Our top two offensive players combine for the first run of the game.

Escobar triples in Marte. He leads the league in triples.

Then Walker singles in Escobar. 2-0.

The beat goes on with one out.

Jones singles. Runners on 1st & 2nd.

And Lamb strikes out.

Ahmed singles in the 3rd run.

A walk and the bases are loaded for Robbie Ray.

And that, D-back fans, is the bottom of the 1st.

If we don't sweep this series, something is wrong!

Here are the results, BTW. Our sucky bullpen came through.

Escobar had two triples to add to his league leading total.
