If Herro has officially signed his rookie deal I don't know if they can trade him until mid December.

Report: Thunder asked Heat to trade two of Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Justise Winslow for Russell Westbrook
https://sports.yahoo.com/report-thunder-asked-heat-trade-164738810.html

this seems like a somewhat strange move... I understand wanting to get out of the contract, but giving the Heat Westbrook likely devalues the unprotected Miami draft picks OKC got from the Clippers in the Paul George trade. Is there no one else out there that they can trade him to while getting cap relief and a couple young players/expirings/a pick or two?

Maybe OKC can give back the 2021 and 2023 picks in exchange for 2022, 2024, and 2026. Unrealistic but funny and would allow them to get the vaunted 2022 double draft as well as push out the picks past the Westbrook/Butler window.

Chris Paul. Yuck! He's going to be a peach in OKC. His deal is equally as bad as Westbrook, just one year ahead.

Well, if nothing else, we at least know OKC is going to be worse than us next season.

Westbrook and Harden together again. That is one potent backcourt.

Maybe they can bring in Durant in a few years to complete the OKC reunion.

Wonder if Paul entertains a buy out at this point? A lot of cheddar to give up, though.

I get that Houston had to do something. But not sure Westbrook moves the needle all that much for them. He is slowing incrementally season by season at this point, and Houston still doesn't match up all that well with the teams ahead of them (LAC/LAL) or right around them (Den/Utah). They really probably just tightened their hold on the 4 seed, if anything.

Lakers fans are already talking about a buyout. No way OKC writes him a 124M check to go away and Paul isn't giving up the tens of millions it would take to make it palatable.

OKC has acquired a phenomenal amount of 8 first round picks since draft night.

I knew Daryl Morey would make some move to improve the Rockets.

There is not much down side and a huge chance they improve.

yup.

next step... firing DA and bringing in someone who can work with those two. I don't know how the hell any of his "systems" can account for the two biggest ball stoppers in the league.

Agreed. This is so far removed from even a modified version of SSOL.

I get it from Houston’s standpoint. The fit might be questionable but I get it

Now why on earth would OKC who looks to be going into full rebuild want back Chris Paul and his contract

Harden and Westbrook salaries account for 70% of the salary cap.

Unless I'm missing something the Rockets will have good surrounding players around Harden and Westbrook in Eric Gordon, Clint Capela and PJ Tucker.
