I think they are being careful with Jones due to the altitude and the problem he had last time they were in Colorado. Maybe giving him a day to get acclimated?

Despite Swihart’s strong arm in the field, I’d rather see Locastro out there. I like his energy a lot.

Grienke now 35th on all time strike out list. We have been blessed to see some really great pitchers in Dbacks uniforms.

Also Grienke looks real good with short hair!

After three scoreless innings (3 scoreless innings at Coors?), the D-backs take a 1-0 lead.

Following a perfect hit-and-run single, a fly ball to the outfield for a sacrifice fly.

A manufactured run.

Then Zack gives up an immediate HR in the bottom of the 4th and the score is tied.

Escobar singles in a run in the 6th. 2-1 D-backs.

And a pitching change for the Rockies.

Greinke beginning to slide. But he leaves the bases loaded in the 6th.

Ahmed with a solo HR in the top of the 7th.

Cron pinch-hitting for Greinke.

The guys imagined Cron hitting for four games in Coors Field.

I hope he gets a chance to start a few.

And Dyson with a double off the screen in RF with two outs
is left on base.

3-1 D-backs.

Yoshi, with his 5.00 ERA, is in to pitch the 7th and puts two runners on base.

And Yoshi is outta there. Good move, Torey! Chafin is in to pitch and walks
the bases loaded. Arenado coming up and Archie (the second half of the
Yoshi/Archie folly) is in to pitch, with his 4.09 ERA as a reliever.

Archie gives up a 2-run 2-out single. Then gets a strikeout, but the score
is tied.

When will the D-backs realize that Yoshi and Archie are no longer a 7th-8th
inning combination? Neither of them.

Thank you Murphy for swinging at a pitch that bounced 8 feet in front of the plate.

Hirano looks like he settled down, so Lovullo in his infinite wisdom yanks Hirano, puts in Chafin, who predictably walks the only batter he faces (Chafin is HORRIBLE with inherited runners), and then compounds his error by putting in Bradley, who of course promptly blows it.

This one, like so many others, is on Lovullo and his excessive tinkering, not to mention excessive loyalty to those who do not deserve it.

Not the D-Backs. Torey. Only Torey.

Once again, Hazen needs to force Torey's hand, send Archie Bradley to Reno and call up Sherfy.

Yoshi and Archie are obviously not dependable as the 7th and 8th inning relievers.

It is on Torey, and his horrible pitching coach, but it is also on Hazen to provide
replacements for the important 7th-8th spots.

If Sherfy is one of the answers, Hazen should make the move. The GM makes
the personnel moves ... the Manager and his coaching staff manage them.

And the GM should have final say on replacing the Pitching coach.

Lopez and Sherfy would be just fine, if Torey would finally learn his lesson.

Again, that should be Hazen's decision. It is a personnel move.

And Lopez is pitching the 8th. But, yes, Torey had no choice.
Hazen and Torey should be consulting on that decision.

Why only on Hazen? Lopez is on the roster. Pitching substitutions in the game are 100% Torey. Frankly, both are dropping the ball here, in my opinion.

Someone needs to get through to Torey that loyalty to flailing players can only go so far before it becomes disloyalty to the rest of the team.

I agree, as I had added to my previous post. This is on both of them.
