funny -- ive seen dozens of Cardinals in the desert around the valley, but never a Pyrrhuloxia

Cardinals are much more adaptable to human disturbance of habitat- Pyrrhuloxias not so much

I'll never forget the morning of the NFC championship game vs Eagles when in my back yard I saw the biggest, reddest Cardinal I ever saw. It was the size of a blue jay. It was as if the bird on our helmet decided pay me a visit. I knew we were going to win that game.
