Not sure I agree! Here’s the dater:

Mike Nolan NFL DC 17 yrs - Giants, Skins, Jets, Ravens, Broncos, Dolphins, & Falcons

D League rank Yds/pts:
1/5
8/11
16/17
10/14
8/16
28/24
24/30
13/10
19/22
6/3
6/6
12/7
14/6
6/15
5/24
27/27
27/32
Avg = 12.35/15.82

Dom Capers NFL DC 16 yrs - Steelers, Jags, Dolphins, Packers

2/13
8/3
2/2
1/4
16/12
5/4
30/23
7/2
2/5
19/32
11/11
24/25
13/15
12/15
21/22
26/22
Avg =12.44/13.12

Chuck Pagano NFL DC 1 yr - Ravens

3/3

Based on these facts and Pagano’s limited DC experience, I’d lean toward Nolan first, then Capers, and lastly Pagano.
I see what you are saying, but if you look farther than the average rank, over the course of their career you will see that Nolan had a bottom half of the league defense pts wise , in 9 of those years and Capers only had a bottom half defense in 7 years. Further, Capers has had 6 years where his defense was top 5 pts allowed compared to Nolan only twice.

I would still go with Pagano.

What is Ray Horton up to these days? I loved our defense under him.

who cares? defense was awesome under him
Ray Horton created a semi ruckus outside Cardinals facility when head coaching job was not offered in 2013. I highly doubt Horton is even under consideration given the exit circumstances.

water under the bridge. aggressive 3-4 defense is exactly what this team needs

I could be wrong but I thought Horton ran a 4-3, and Bowles switched it up to a 3-4. I thought people were frustrated about the switch at the time. Could be wrong, just what I remember.

No switch. Horton ran a form of steelers 3-4. Bowles more or less the same.

Horton ran a 3-4 and has barely remained employed since. Let's stop that love affair now

We should also look into Joe Woods, who got the ax with Vance Joseph in Denver.

The defense has always done well, it was the offense and a lack of a real QB that killed them this year.

I’ll take him over Capers, Pagano, and Nolan any day. You want those re-treads?

My concern with Greg Williams is that he is not a team player. He would split the locker room with the defense versus the offense. I really wouldn't trust him.. KK needs an experienced DC that will support him and work with him. That is not Greg Williams.
