Mets, D-backs headed in opposite directions
PHOENIX -- As Arizona added another contributor, the New York Mets continued to run into road blocks.

Diamondbacks outfielder Jon Jay had hit leadoff in all five of his starts since joining the team in Colorado last week, and he has been good. Jay had three hits, including the game-clinching homer in a 13-8 victory over Pittsburgh on Tuesday, and he added a two-out, two-run single in the ninth inning of a 5-4 loss to the Pirates in the final game of the series Wednesday.

The Mets, meanwhile, received more bad news Wednesday when right-hander Noah Syndergaard was told he will need more time to recover from a right index finger injury that landed him on the disabled list.

D-backs look to stay hot against struggling Mets
The Diamondbacks appear to have their swagger back.

After winning their series against the Pirates, the D-backs look to pad their lead in the NL West as the Mets come into Chase Field.

The D-backs are finding a way to win, despite the rotation having struggled this last turn. Matching up against the lowly Mets offense should put them in a better position to find success.

Diamondbacks' Jarrod Dyson: Situated on bench Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire
Dyson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

Dyson is hitting just .152/.310/.152 through 11 games in June, so he'll head to the bench to clear his head with a lefty in Jason Vargas toeing the rubber for the opposition. Chris Owings will start in center field and hit eighth in his stead.

Crazy stats by Goldy today. 3 Ks and a HR. Peralta and Marte are just still lighting it up. Lamb needs to stay hot and not go cold/hot/cold/hot.

No offense for about 1/2 the line-up tonight with our weakest pitcher taking the mound.

Part of his cold/hot/cold/hot is that he has been starting against lefties since he got back.

I see that, going against a righty today, Goldie and Ahmed are the only righty hitting position players in the batting order. I don't understand why Marte (a switch hitter) is on the bench and Ahmed (who hits like a Minor Leaguer vs. righties) is at SS.

Yup. Ahmed, to no one's surprise, waves at a ball in the dirt to end the 1st.

Godley is back to being his un-Godley self. He lucked out with the runner at third thrown out trying to score on a sac fly.

Descalso is amazing. A 2-out-2-run HR. A part time player, I think he is leading the D-backs in RBI's. That is clutch hitting.

5-2 D-backs as we head to the top of the 6th.
