Awesome thread! A new well of movies to add to my list of movies to watch.

Babe: Pig in the City :D
Thunderheart
Diggstown

I spent a summer working in Alaska and every night we would get home after 16 hours of work and throw in this movie. By the end of the summer we could quote pretty much the entire script.

Amazon Women On The Moon

Love it. That scene with Arsenio kills me.

Gladiator (1992)
Hudson Hawk
The Salton Sea

I used to watch this all the time in '93. It would probably seem a little cheesy if I rewatched it now, but I still hear those great Seal songs on my ipod quite often.

Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead.

I've been waiting for this dvd to get released forever.

I'll submit this ridiculous movie. It's so bad that it's great!

My old workout partner and I used to use this phrase in jest all the time. "No Retreat, No Surrender!"

Amelie was. And to a lesser extent probably Hard-Boiled as well. The Killer though, you might have a point.

I'll give you Amelie, but only the true cinephiles really know Hard Boiled IMO.

Sooooo... I'll say Friday is my favorite since I dont think it made alot of money?

Friday was actually a pretty big hit, evidenced not only by it's box office but by the fact that it spawned two sequels.

If you said that about the Killer, I'd say yes. But Hard-Boiled is arguably Chow Yun-Fat's most well-known Hong Kong film not named Crouching Tiger.

How many people, outside of cinephiles can name more than one or two HK films?

Is the question about "non-popular" or "unsuccessful box office in the US" films?

If you feel so strongly about it, then I take it back. Hard-Boiled is unpopular. It's not worth arguing over. It's a great movie either way.

That's exactly what I wonder when going through most of the choices in this thread.

I think some folks are missing the point.

I'd say it is a combination of both. I don't feel so strongly about it that you have to take your ball and go home. I thought this was a healthy dialogue??

Chap, I think if you asked the majority of Americans, they'd have no clue who Cow Yun-Fat still is, even after Crouching Tiger.

i always assume "non-popular" meant obscure, like movies off the beaten path?

I don't think that's true, not now, anyway.

he hasn't been in much of anything that most movie-goers have seen since Crouching Tiger and that was a decade ago. i think you've been living in LA for too long Chap! :)
