Being a long time basketball fan, for the best decade or so it really has become painfully obvious that the West is the stronger conference.

But why? Can someone explain? You have a select few Eastern teams that are elite, and then you have the West that tends to be more up for grabs.

It can’t be a disparity in the talent because the East has the likes of Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, Kevin Garnett, etc.

So what is it?

Someone explain.

It really isn’t out of the realm to think the East has the best shot at winning it all, since the 2 elite teams will coast and the West is an all out dogfight in all rounds…

It's cold and boring in the East, and their style of basketball mirrors that.

It's a disparity of team talent. Dwyane Wade was on an elite team two years ago because he had talent around him. Kevin Garnett is on an elite team now because he has elite talent around him. James is in a similar situtation to Bryant a few years ago when none of his teammates were any good.

It's not that there isn't All-Star quality players in the East, it's that a lot of those guys don't have another All-Star next to them like a lot of the West's do.
