I didn't say to swagger or talk junk. No...just sit there quiet and KNOW you will shut them up.

There's a huge difference in talking and knowing. If they knew they could play like they did last week and do it every week, there's no reason to talk.

BTW, you can't shut up a crowd by being a jackass...that only riles them up (hear that Vernon Davis?). You can only shut up a crowd by reaching in their chest, pulling out their collective heart and stomping on it.

Oh, okay. When you said "laughing at the crowd" I took it to be obnoxious. A quiet, certain confidence? Yes, of course.

When you go on the road, you start off with the wind at your front. (The odds-makers don't concede 3 points to the home team out of the goodness of their hearts).

The 800 lb gorilla sits in the stands at away games. Crowd-noise creates problems for young teams, certain QB's and offensive systems which rely heavily on complex audibles and snap-counts. (How many false start penalties do we average on the road)?

That said - I do think some coaches are very good at game-planning differently for road games than they do at home. In the NHL, part of the common language often refers to a team "playing a typical road game." What they mean by this is playing dull, conservative hockey designed to "take the crowd out of the game" in the hope they can keep the score close so that they have a chance to steal it in the final period.

And I also believe that some coaches and team leaders do a better job than others of selling their team on "how cool it feels to play the role of 'villain' and get boo'd in enemy country." Those teams feed on this, and it helps them.

I'm not so sure I buy into the "night before" and pre-game road prep arguments, but it woulld make an interesting color piece for Kent, Wolf or Darren to write about - specifically "'a game-day in the life' on the road" vs. "'a game-day in the life' at home" for the Cardinals.

Cincy is 3-6 and sputtering.

They have tickets for sale for this game; going for FACE VALUE.

Crowd: 30 K die-hards plus the apathetic...remind you of SDS days?

Good news for us in getting a road win...

3 great WRs. A solid passer in Palmer. Rudi back healthy.

Let's not start patting ourselves on the back just yet.

screw Rudi. I finally dropped him from my fantasy team. 20 points all year from my 2nd round pick is BS.

Buzz-kill. :trout:

I was really talking about the 12th man; indications are that it will be 11.5 at max...

Just read that we are 7-31 on the road in our last 38. Disgraceful. No excuse for that to happen in this league.

Just curious, but could you put that stat within some sort of context?

i.e. Why 38 road games and not 37? (37 road games = 4 regular season's worth of road games plus 5 more this year).

What are the road records of the other 31 NFL teams and where do we rank?

Cardinals have constantly stunk (I'd use a better word, but it'd be scrambled) on the road. I don't get what their problem is. Why can a team look so different home vs. away?

Are too many partying and hung over? I thought so during the Tampa game. Maybe I'm wrong, but they looked it.

I just can not figure why they can be so in sync at home and look like a turd on the road.

any answers please reply and send a CC to the Cardinals HQ.

Don't do heroin 10 minutes before the game?

This is the ticket. The Cards should take 3000-5000 of us FANS to all their road games.

According to profootball-reference.com:

Last 37 road games Cards are 6-31 with 4 of those wins coming in St.Louis.
Our partners in ineptitude, the Lions, are 8-29.

Look, we could win every road game for the next two seasons and that stat would still look bad.

Please don't dust it off again until 2010.

Thanks.:raccoon:

In the long run we have not been good at home or on the road for years. It is more pronounced on the road but truly we have been bad everywhere over the years.

LOL. Jeff I wondered the same thing. Just recounting something that Vegas Vic wrote in his weekly picks column. He seems to pull stats out his keister, but he's the expert I guess.
