Hey guys, with the new season upon us, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to watch Cardinals games in the LA area. Thought it would be fun to watch with fellow fans.
Then you'll be seeing more doubles in the gaps. The ball that you like to bash Young for catching, would never have been caught by Parra. Being able to cover ground means less hits, which means less runs. A good arm won't be able to make up for all that.
Since you seem to be missing my point I'll make one last stab at it. I have been talking about range. Parra doesn't have great range. He has an arm which helps improve his stock defensively. You don't need that much range in left since there is little ground to cover.
Example...
Well I would consider 24th to be one of the worst.

In 2010 when he won the gold glove he was 16th...
Gold gloves are a joke. Derek Jeter has won 5 including one 2 years ago. He is close to the worst defensive shortstop in the game. The award is as much about hitting as it is fielding.
Parra is a good corner outfielder, where he doesn't have to cover that much ground. His arm brings his...
Errors don't matter. Better players usually make more errors because they can reach more balls. Parra consistently take poor routes to balls and that costs him. Think of it like Jim Edmonds. He made all those great catches because he put himself behind the 8 ball with a terrible route. On...
I also think you are over-thinking the whole budget part of this. Last year's 26th pick was Blake Swihart who went to Boston. He was about as hard a sign as anyone in that draft and he eventually signed for $2.5 mil. The D-Backs have a slot of $1.7 mil this year and none of the guys I listed...
It is the exact same as it has been years past. They don't sign a guy, they get the 27th pick next year.
Piscotty has been ruined by Stanford. They screw up every hitter by forcing them to use their swing mechanics and it takes too long to change the players back.
Also I don't know...
None of those guys are worth taking at 26. The D-Backs have been said to be looking at high upside guys, most likely high schoolers.
For me the guys I would want to see taken at 26 are Hunter Virant a left handed pitcher in high school who has a build similar to Tyler Skaggs. In fact his...

So, yeah, it sounds like Miguel Montero will be sticking around. If you missed it, @jonmorosi got it first: $60 million over five years.
