State Players you feel should be Removed from our Big Board, and not picked if available to us.

Post players to Beware Of due questions or issues regarding their character, speed, size, positional or scheme fit, injury history, personality quirks, or whatever. List factual reasons, not rumors or fake news, why players are likely to be flops, busts, not live up to expectations, or be a totally bad fit for our team.

I will remove questionable players from our board below per your Valid suggestions. With only 3 top picks, we can't afford to ignore red flags. Where improtant, state what you are basing your suggestion on, if not already well known. Let's begin with the top 105 players per SI's final Big Board from yesterday, Friday 4/22/22.

Carson Strong, QB, Nevada has a bad knee that really limits his mobility. Not worth the risks and time to develop.

Sam Williams, DE, Mississippi has had character issues since H.S. from which he was expelled and later had sexual battery chargers issued and later dropped. Still makes you wonder?

I will be strict with the following players:

Kayvon Thibodeaux - his noted inconsistancy along with his so high a ranking, is just more than I want to gamble about.

I couldn't separate the 3 Georgia D-studs. One probably will be a standout, however there has been reported misbehavior in their past and they are close friends who seem to do everything together, thick as thieves as they say. They probably won't be there when we pick anyway.

Don't know if this qualifies, but....

Tyler Linderbaum...OC...

Good hands, decent leverage....skilled...

But small and weak. This guy is Lyle Sendlein all over again.

The Bench press is an indicator of overall strength for one's upper body mostly, but considered an overall indicator. Linderbaum really needed to put reps on record, to show he is stronger than his size indicates.
He sat out the combine and his pro day with a foot injury.
A foot injury does not affect your bench press. I can see him sitting out running and such, obviously..but not the bench.
Considering he is undersized, you would think if "strength" was a strength he would be eager to show it as most competitors are.
However, Linderbaum already had a first round grade so he couldn't help his draft stock, only reaffirm it with a good show of strength. He opted to stay on the sidelines and not risk it.
This tells me he knows he isn't very strong...which verifies the tape of him getting manhandled by a Wisconsin DT that will never play in the NFL.

Point of reference.

Aaron Donald at 285lbs did 36 reps at the combine.

Zion Johnson did 32
Kenyon green did 20

My guess is Linderbaum would have been around 18-20 reps.
Average strength for an athletic 290lb young man. But far from exceptional.

He will likely have a long nfl career because his skills, hands, leverage and footwork are very good. But he will always leave his teams wishing for an upgrade because the stronger guys on defensive fronts will bowl him over.
Just like Lyle Sendlein

Good powerlifter bench press technique involves leg drive. Its very important for both stability and power. He could have put something up if he wanted to, but it wouldn't be full strength so I can see why he sat it out.

It’s just a feeling I get watching him. He won’t be a bust, but I don’t think Hutchinson is as good as some are rating him. He looks a little stiff to me. Mediocre against the run. Not good in coverage. Not as polished as I’d like a top pick to be.

I can too. But I know competitors,.... if he possessed superior strength he would have shown it.

" Linderbaum puts up 30 reps in a walking boot!"
That headline could have put him in the top 15

Though I agree stats have some use, they self support their own data to the detriment of reality... meaning if you follow the stats on your actions, then you automatically help increase their variables they support, which then prevents outside variables from changing them :)

I think both Icky and Neal are more sure things that Hutchinson. If I was the Jags with a #1 pick QB I need to protect that's where I'd be going.

I still think they will despite the Walker/Hutch talk. Pederson is an offensive coach, former QB, and knows the importance of having good tackles from the Eagles.

If Jags had any sense they would be letting Pederson make the call.

Travon Walker is a bust waiting to happen.

I think Hutchinson is a nice player, and you'd be happy with him at #5...but he isn't a #1 overall.

Agreed that Icky or Neal will be the best player(s) from the top of the draft. Sauce will probably go later than he should too.

The other factor here is it's likely the switch to a 3-4. Joe Cullen the new DC has used both and has said that they will evaluate the roster before deciding, but Allen and Chaison are both guys that dropped into coverage in college and both fit a 3-4 more than a 4-3. Especially Chaison (who was a 1st round pick 2 years ago).

The Jags O line has actually got worse outside of Scherff and currently it's Robinson - Bartch - Shatley - Scherff - Taylor.

Both Ickey and Neal could play LG while Robinson plays out the tag and move to LT next year.

Confused because you can't remember which of the 3 Georgia guys has red flags you pulled all 3 of them off the board? Wyatt is the one there's speculation he has multiple domestic violence issues and an unnamed AFC GM said we've pulled him off our draft board due to multiple red flags.

Walker is the one being overrated right now he's a great athlete but he has no history of being a dominant pass rusher so drafting him #1 overall is a gamble. Has the talent but hasn't done it as a pass rusher.

Davis I'm already on record with him will be an impact guy, freak athlete for his size.

Yeah...if that's the case, DV guys tend to continue their pattern. No thank you.

I think a guy who has gotten a ton of reps next to elite players should have production. I see nothing special on tape....He actually looks similar to Calvin Pace lol. Walker would be a solid, not great pick at the end of round one.

One dimensional run stuffers aren't worth high picks.

I'd normally agree but that's what Vita Vea was and he went #13? And you would have to say that he was worth it.

Get him in 1 on 1 situations and that's going to be tough to handle for any team.

He needs developing for sure, but if he's there at #23 I don't think you can argue he's not worth the risk with his athletic profile. And he can start right away as a run stuffer worse case.

Just to be clear I would be amazed if we picked Davis it depends what happens pre draft but we clearly need an edge rusher and a WR and probably a CB, we're not getting that AND Davis in one draft so my guess is we will not pick Davis.

Re: DAVIS

This is often repeated but we don't know that this is a 'real' projection of his abilities at the next level. I'll take a 'freak' athlete who could dominate the interior.

A dominating interior D-lineman has a positive effect on all members of a front seven.

Oh I love Davis I'm probably his biggest fan on the board. But I'd be amazed if we pick him because we need to replace Jones in the edge and we need a WR and unless we sign one late I can't see us getting those 2 filled AND getting Davis.

Yeah but if you have Davis in the interior there is an argument that he makes Kennard/Gardeck/Dimikeje (or whoever we sign in FA or draft in a lower round) a bigger threat.

Hey I've been arguing for Davis since middle of the college season as a guy we should be looking at. I don't have any issue at all with taking him. But with Harry's rumor we're trying to trade up I assume that's for edge or WR which says we won't be taking Davis.

I love the kid

He needs a bunch of work, but on size and athleticism alone he's worth the #23 if we stay there any other viable options are gone. I'd rather Davis over a CB.
