This has the same feel of the Colorado game. Big win against a ranked team followed by a game against a decent but not great team. WSU is a mess right now.

Both are coming off bye weeks and cameras will be following the Devils this week.

If you have designs on the South you take no games for granted.

I think WSU is dangerous, wide open offense and an unpredictable defense. Will they totally change things up on D now with a new coordinator?

Should be interesting and. I don't expect ASU to take this one lightly

#18 in AP top 25

Devils need to be highly focused this weekend. A top 20 team needs to act like it and beat a team like WSU who is in a bit of chaos and beaten down. Don't let them off the mat.

Just read kicker Brandon Ruiz will be transferring. That's a headscratcher.

This will count as a redshirt season for Brandon Ruiz. Maybe he thinks Cristian Zendejas has the kicking job locked up.

I found this at azcentral:

ASU coach Herm Edwards was asked about Ruiz on Monday and said he still is injured. Ruiz made his announcement later in the afternoon.

"We know who our kicker is, and we're going with our guy," Edwards said. "Good for him because the more he kicks, the more confident he becomes. He probably doesn't have the leg, but he's been pretty accurate. I trust the guy. He's a hard worker, and he's earned his scholarship now. He's kicking, and that's OK."

The part in bold did not make me feel extra confident.

Not an FBS kicker.
He’s gonna cost the Devils a game.

Eh, Ruiz might have cost them a game too. Not saying this isn't a concern but merely suggesting Ruiz isn't infallible.

Just has an FBS leg. Devils are gonna need a 45-50 yd field goal to win a game.

I'm good with Cristian Zendejas at least for this season. He is 10-13 on field goals and 12-12 on extra points. His longest field goal made is 43 yards. It sounds like Ruiz wouldn't kick this season anyway.

Brandon Ruiz stats at ASU for comparison:

2017: 49/50 XP 19/27 FG
2018: 50/50 XP 18/22 FG

Yeah, I saw it. Still have to go with the kicker you have. We will see how Zendejas kicks the rest of the season.

Oh don't get me wrong, I am dancing with the one I brought to the dance. I was mostly trying to show that for the strength of his leg it isn't as though Ruiz was automatic.

Zendejas can win games for the Devils too.

Didn't Zendejas miss a FG in the Colorado game? He could have been the difference in losing a game already.

Yes. I believe it was something like 50 yards or a tad short of that. No certainty Ruiz makes that either.

I think Zendejas is going to be a great kicker for us long term, he has got it in his DNA for crying out loud.

But losing Brandon Ruiz, to injury for this year, then transferring out next sucks for ASU. He was top notch, was committed to Alabama before coming to ASU. Much better range than you'd ordinarily expect in a college kicker and good accuracy. We'll never know what went down behind the scenes here, but there must have been some type of conflict. Perhaps no promise the job would be his again upon return. Perhaps they told him he'd have to compete with Zendejas, who knows. I just hope he transfers outside the PAC12.

I see the game tomorrow starts at 12:30 p.m. It is on the PAC 12 Networks so I hope to find a stream of the game somewhere.

It will likely be a high scoring affair.

Enough talking about a pinche kicker, especially one that is throwing a fit about the other walk on getting a scholarship.
