Damnit, I didn't want to have to post this.

Torey's move yesterday of moving his power hitting catcher up in
the batting order, and not in front of the pitcher, held his attention
span for one game.

It was a good and logical move for a number of reasons. Force the
opponent to pitch to the power hitter. And put a fast runner ahead
of the pitcher.

Why was it, or any move, abandoned after one game? Especially as
each game gets closer to elimination from the last Wild Card spot.

I do not like the each-day-is-a-new-beginning approach, especially at
this time of the season. This team is in desperate need of continuity,
which only the manager can provide.

Marte, following his worst game of the season yesterday (4 strikeouts)
leads off with a single, steals second and scores on Escobar's single to
the wide open opposite field.

National League baseball = 1-0 D-backs lead in the 1st.

2-run double by the Mets with one out in the 2nd
and the D-backs challenge at the plate is denied.

Gallen has pitched a lot of consecutive games
without giving up more than three runs. Mets
are at 2 in the 2nd.

Even if Gallen gives up only 3, it means the
D-backs need to score at least 4.

Mets runner stranded at 3B. 2-1 score.

The "bat" is back. Marte just misses a home run with one out in the 3rd.

It's a double, to go with his single to lead off the game. And a groundout
sends him to 3B.

Escobar leaves him stranded this time.

Marte needs a triple to join his double digits in steals (which he picked up
today) and his 30+ doubles and home runs.

And his top 5 batting average and leading the league in base hits.

Hard throwing pitchers . . .and the umps calling strikes on pitches three inches off the plate.

In Avila's defense, when it happened today, he had to swing at anything after that, to avoid
taking "strikes".

Another example of why MLB needs the electronic strike caller, which I posted recently . . . .
because it was happening recently.

The results of ball games should be in the hands of the coaches and players, not the umpires!

Early in the game, BB commented on the orange shoes of a Mets player,
saying it's like the Giants.

Bob, when the Dodgers and Giants left for the West Coast in 1958 and
were replaced by the Metropolitans in 1961, the colors they chose in
tribute to NY National League fans were Giants orange and Dodger blue.

Yes, Tommy LaSorda, a former Brooklyn Dodger pitcher, the Mets bleed
half Dodger blue. :)

We don't match up well to a lot of teams because we are an overachieving team due to our manger and staff.

Frazier with another RBI double. Rojas attempted to catch it at the wall.
Between his play at 2B & LF, his fielding looks like jack of all trades,
but master of none.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out and the pitcher comes up.

Runner on 3B is out on a groundout to 3B. Runners on 1B & 3B.

The Mets are challenging the call. It looks like the runner is out.
And the call is upheld.

3-1 Mets at the end of 4. Only four innings? It feels like it should
be the end of 6. o_O

This may be the “good night season” series . I didn’t have a good feeling about playing the Mets on the road, our offense is just AWOL.

I miss the Freight Train, but we'll probably never see
his clutch hits and enthusiasm again. He is aging
before our eyes.

Peralta batting cleanup with Marte and Escobar as our
consistent 3-4-5 hitters leading the way would have
made a bigger difference leading our offense.

All sorts of pitching changes for the D-backs.
Sherfy in. Sherfy out. McFarland in.

2 outs in the 7th. Still a 3-1 Mets lead.

Escobar with a solo HR. He has driven in both runs.
It's the top of the 8th with two outs.

Rojas draws a walk. Adam Jones in a 10-pitch at-bat
grounds out to end the inning.

When’s the last time Adam Jones had a big hit?

April?

It's a shame. He, as Avila, looks like a hitter. Could it be because
Jones is a part-time player and hasn't had a chance to get in a
groove?

Pitchers' battle today. The Mets have gone down in order for
the last 4 innings.

And the D-backs come up down by a run in the 9th.

Ahmed singles to start the inning against the lefty.
Carson Kelly, hitting for Avila, grounds out to 1B.

Cron pinch-hitting in a rare at-bat. One out. Tying
run on 2B. Ahmed goes to 3B on Cron's single.
Locastro runs for Cron.

Marte with a groundout to 1B. Ahmed gets back
to 3B and Locastro advances to 2B. Flores up.

Flores strikes out to leave runners on 2B & 3B
and the D-backs lose 3-2.

A replica of the season so far -- too little, too
late.

The D-backs double the Mets hit total 10-5, but lose the game.

They've scored a total of 8 runs in their last 4 games.

The D-backs hitters are un-clutch when it matters the most.
