Should NCAA postpone the start?

They are considering postponing the start of the tournament when war breaks out (I think we are beyond the "if war breaks out stage"). What do you guys think?

I am torn. On one hand, if the war starts Thursday, then I think it is probably right to postpone it however this event is very much a part of American culture now. I could also understand keeping it on track. The troops overseas will still be inetrested in it during their downtime. It will be a most welcome break from all the war coverage we will be flooded with.

As for venue safety, these venues have doen everything in their power to ensure safe attendance. They could likely ratchet it up a bit more but in the end, a determined terrorist is going to find a way. I hate to sound flippant, but we cannot put our lives on hold. We must press onward!

Well, I hope everyone in the Middle East is safe (except Saddam and his psychotic kin) and I want them all home safely.

Now I can agree because I am at home so I am able to watch all the games televised...so I am all for it continuing normally.

I would look for outlets from the war coverage personally because of the overkill nature of our news media now.

I DO understand the hesitation though. In some ways it makes sense to postpone it but will that lead MLB to delay the regular season start (obviously I can assume OAK/SEA will stay home for their first games)? War will still be going on then. At what point do we get on with things?

About 3 days after the war starts...Because for all intents and purposes we will have crushed iraq by then...We will still have to worry about terrorism, but iraq will be destroyed quicker than most people assume.
