Derozan apparently qualifies for SC

You know this is just too easy even for me this is fish in a barrel.

----------------------

Prized USC recruit DeMar DeRozan's SAT score from last month "improved about 80 or 90 points" from his previous score, Compton High Coach Tony Thomas said Wednesday, meaning the McDonald's All-American should be eligible to play for the Trojans next season.

"He's pretty sure he's got enough based upon whatever grades he gets," Thomas said. "He thinks he'll be more than fine."

DeMar's father, Frank DeRozan, said his son had achieved four A's and a B in correspondence courses through Brigham Young University. Such courses are often used to boost high school grade-point averages.

After Davon Jefferson got in last summer are your surprised? When USC is letting kids that can't get into UNLV go to school then we have problems. Remember when the Pac-10 used to take academics somewhat seriously (at least in comparison to the other power conferences)? I guess Trojan Football lining the rest of the conference's pockets for the last several years has made the nine other schools look the other direction when it comes to USC's dirty laundry.

What kills me here is the brazen way of doing it. The NCAA changed the rule to stop Calipari et al from using prepschools to get core classes by saying you can only get one core grade after highschool. Calipari used to routinely have kids get 3 or 4 of them in prepschool in one year, Floyd was doing it with both prepschool and online courses. So now you can't do that what does Floyd do, he has Derozan take FIVE online courses while he's still enrolled at Compton HS!

I mean he's not even trying to hide it, hell Derozan's dad told the reporter exactly what they did. Since Derozan is still in HS he is not bound by the only one core class rule because it's not AFTER HS. So a kid who apparently couldn't get a high enough GPA in HS courses was able to get 4 A's and one B in college level online courses while still attending HS, and of course flying around to play in the McD's game, the Jordan game and the Hoop Summit.

I'd now be VERY surprised if Derozan asked out of his LOI there's only about 2-3 schools in America who'd accept that transcript IMHO, Memphis of course being one.

SC announced over the weekend they'd signed 6'10" Croation Nikola Vucevic from Stoneridge Prep. Vucevic committed a month ago but had to pass some classes to qualify both at Stoneridge and through BYU online. He becomes by my count the EIGHTH player on USC's roster who used online courses to qualify. 8 out of 13.
