Shades of 97, eh? Cept this time The Cats are the number 1 seed. Either way, its going to be a stellar matchup.
I never predict victories, but after last nights performance against ND, The Cats looked freaking hungry. And the Hawks had to work hard in their matchup. I like that.
But this is the tourney. And anything can happen. And you KNOW thats true when even ASU wins a game.

Well I'll say this much, it's pretty obvious that the Zags were a much better team than ASU was so it makes sense that UofA struggled more to get the the Sweet 16 than KU. But on the flip side, I think its safe to say that Duke was a much better team than ND.
Absolutely. I was just pointing out that the Cats got some rest on Thursday night, and the Jayhawks had to fight til the end. One would hope that would help us, even if only a little.
Great or not, we didn't deserve to win that game. Hinrich just was unconscious. I hate to blame Lute, and even though that 1-3-1 defense took Collison totally out of the game, I would have liked to see a 2-3 to try to contain Hinrich.

Yeah, I won't way that we didn't deserve to win that game. I think both teams deserved to win it. Its one of those matchups where you prefer to see the clock shut off and just have them keep going until no one is left standing. What a dog fight.
Bottom line, If the Cats protect the ball, they win that game. Kudos to the Jayhawks for earning those turnovers, too. For as many as Frye let slip through his fingers, Kansas flat out stole as many.
Igoudala and Adams are going to be huge. Frye needs more bulk. He's snother Loren Woods. And I don't know what happened to him last night, be just looked like he wasnt ready for that big a stage.
To Anderson, you played your heart out for us, and I hope you have success in whatever your next endeavors are.
To Gardner and Walton, no words can describe your importance to the program. May your careers continue and may you both flourish.
Granted, the turnovers hurt us, but I think the thing that hurt us the most is easily the perimeter defense. Like I said, the 1-3-1 helped inside, but outside it was worthless. That's how we got beat.

Valid, but if you shut down COllison, you're going to have to give someone an open look. Hinrich rebounded well from a horrid performance in his previous game, and the rest of the KS team doesnt have the perimeter shooters, so I thought the stratgey was exactly what we needed. We certainly shot well enough on our end to stya within three, even with Hinrich going off.
Take away the points off turnovers, which at one point was 16-0 and THERE'S where the cats lost. I thought we had a pick your poison defense, and Hinrich was able to hit the shots. Good for him. But again, I dont think thats what did us in at all.
You put up a 2-3 zone and you might take away Hinrich but you definately open up the drive from Langford then. Plus maybe a little more room for Collison. I agree with schutd, I don't think the D was what beat you. It was the points off turnovers.

It didn't matter, Langford was driving and pulling up for the little 10 footer several times with the 1-3-1. Mostly because we were too intent on Collison.
