We'll be seeing this statement alot this year. As long as he makes em count(6 personals) the process of Lopez learning how to adjust to NBA officiating will be easier for this SUNS fan to digest.

god forbid something that never got a three time pacific division champ/two time 60 game winner even close to even playing a game in the Finals, much less winning one is dead.
not that I think we'll have much success with the new regime either, but to bemoan the loss of DA is just a head scratcher to me.
We both know that the Suns could have made it into the finals if they were just a tad bit luckier in 2 out of the 3 years of SSOL. (Bill Simmons wrote a whole article about why the Suns were not in SSOL mode last year)
If Dirk doesn't go crazy and drop 50 in a game, or if Raja doesn't get injured during the series, I love our chances of beating Dallas. With a healthy Raja, we almost certainly would have won. Raja was our best player in the previous series. If he had gotten injured instead against the Clippers, they would have killed us. We would never have made it past them to get to Dallas.
Let's not go into what happened in 06-07, but it's ridiculous to try to pretend that we weren't close to winning it all with SSOL.
Every championship team has to have some amount of good luck. An injury to a starter or a suspension at the most inopportune time can take out any team in the league on any year. If Garnett was suspended like he should have been last year, perhaps the Celtics don't even make it out of the first round. If Ginobli doesn't get hurt, maybe the Spurs win it all again.
I hate the fact that we gave up on SSOL after 3 years. It seems really stupid.

The Hawks are not the team they were when they deliberately tanked the season to get Horford (it took luck as well). They have some long, althletic guys who took the Celtics to game 7; and had this game under their belt. In any case, it is hard to imagine the impact having Amare would produce.
Obviously this was a ragged game. It is too bad the refs were calling everything. Lopez showed he's still got a lot to learn about what he can get away with.
Reading the Stats::
Shaq had 10 rebounds in 23 minutes and shot 9 of 14. Yes, he is a lot bigger than Horford (90 pounds), but they were focused on getting him the ball down low.
Dragic went 2 of 3 from the field and had 3 assists and 3 rebounds in 23 minutes.
Nash had 9 assists in 25 minutes. Went 1 of 1 for three but missed all three inside shots.
Barnes overall had a good game with 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 25 minutes. His 4 of 9 inside the arc was OK, but 1 of 6 for three wasn't pretty. . This may be due to trying to regain his shot after shooting great early in camp.
Tucker went 6 of 12 in 24 minutes and finished second only to Shaq in scoring.
Amundson shot better than expected at 4 of 7 but his 3 rebounds in 26 minutes is probably subpar for an inside guy.
Collins shot badly (0 of 2) but got 3 rebounds in 9 minutes.
Hill was once again "quietly efficient" at 4 of 8 shooting, 2 of 2 at the line, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block in 23 minutes.
Bell did not have a good day shooting (2 of 6) to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 24 minutes. The 2 assists is interesting because last year he had a 0.062 rate per minute and this is 0.083 which is a 33% increase. It may be a one game fluke, but it might also reflect the new offense.
Diaw showed some energy in the first quarter but did not turn any heads overall with 4 of 9 shooting and 4 rebounds in 22 minutes.
Overall the Suns act like a team that is still having to deal with conditioning issues. Their defensive intensity fell down in the third quarter as the Hawks started scoring against them.

Deservably so, since Porter is changing a style that everyone (Even non Suns fans) loved. That means we had BETTER get results.
Not everyone.

Everyone loved to watch but most people especially non-Suns fans knew it wouldnt win us a championship. Now we have a different style BUT Nash, Bell, Shaq, Hill are all getting older while the rookies we got are still about a year or two from contributing good minutes on a consistant base. Too many variables to come to a conclusion about our new style of play from 1 year of play. Now if those older guys play like did last year, this team stays realitively healthy and we get worse as a team....then you have a reason to gripe.

You have got to be kidding me. I think you might be over-analyzing the stats.

Again, how in the world can anyone know that when we only had 3 years with it? 2 of which we made to the WCF. The other was lost to the eventual champion in an extremely controversial fashion.
Anyone who claimed to know that it didn't work was either a fool or a homer for another team.

it is a no-brainer. The league was beginning to figure out the D'Antoni system coupled with the fact that our core guys are getting old and can barely keep up wth teams with very athletic young players. Accept it or not that style (all offense little defense) wont win a championship.

Oh my god, the sky is falling, we lost our FIRST PRESEASON game (without Amare and Barbs) against the crappy Hawks. Yeah, you know, that crappy team that pushed the NBA champ to 7 games last year.
I certainly hope not. Everyone should have greatly lowered expectations at this point.
Anyone with a shred of objectivity should realize that the suns dont go from a hasty first round exit to elite by adding a new coach, Barnes, Dragic and Lopez.
