Off Season Wish List

I know its early but college hoops is just starting to get ramped up and conference tournaments are just around the corner. Watched several games over the weekend and got exposed to some players that are in Draftcity's 2005 1st round.

Kennedy Winston -Alabama- smooth shooter but very frail

Dijon Thompson-UCLA-same as above

Wayne Simeon-Kansas-big game against OSU but low post limited

Aaron Miles-Kansas-2nd round projection, does not impress.

Villanueva-UConn- limited to action around the hoop

Boone- UConn - same as above

Antoine Wright-Tex A&M- nothing special

The more I watch Joey Graham the more I am impressed with his game. Strong, mobile. Can shoot the college 3 with ease and accuracy (47.7%) and is not afraid to set picks. Draftcity has Joey Graham as #18 this week.

Here is what I am projecting in the offseason.

Joey Graham -1st round pick
Travis Diener-2nd round

Resign Hunter

Either resign McCarty or sign Luke Walton as FA.

i'm pretty sure that McCarty has a player option for next season, so he's locked up.

He had to forfeit the option before he was traded it was on of the stipulations the Suns wanted.

i thought that the cash that was included in the trade from the celtics was supposed to cover the player option so we'd only technically have to pay for the rest of this year.

i read nowhere that he had to waive his player option. none of the stories i've include that little fact...including the story from the suns website.

Maybe? We will have to see next season. I hope not I just don't think he have brought alot to this team and we can pick up a 2nd rounder to fill his shoes.

I am 90% sure I read the same thing, in fact it was a quote from McCarty that said he a had to "give up" some things to make the deal work. The only thing that he could give up on his contract was a player option.

We are a contender now. We don't care about the draft picks. Let get some players.

Trade Marion for either Wright or Swift plus one of their SFs from Mem. We need a center to please Amare, period.

Sign JJ. Sign Hunter for up to 2 mil.

Kareem Rush. Knight. Zarko. Vujanic. All good fit for the team.

I cant really think of who I would want to trade Marion for, but Wright and Swift is ridiculous.

Especially since Swift turned down offers in the 45 million for 6 range last summer.

If memory serves me right, Olowokandi turned down even more lucrative a contract.
It's about our need to play a true center to make Amare happy to keep him here long term. Centers, actually good bigmen, are never cheap. Starting at 7-8 for either Wright or Swift wouldn't surprise me. Both would be good fit with us as they are quite athletic big men.

Another idea... Ok, I'd rather not reveal my Marion hatred too much.

Well if Swift follows Olowokandi's path we might as well just shoot ourselves in the foot. It would be a lot less painfull than thinking about how we traded a two time allstar in Shawn Marion for Lorenzen freaking Wright and the next coming of Olowokandi....

(I obviously think Swift is a lot better than Kandi. Which is also why I see him getting a decent deal from a team like Atlanta if Dalembert falls through)

I think the Hornets will make a serious run at Swift and try to take advantage of him being from the area.

Swift will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, and I'm not sure if Memphis has his Bird rights. He really isn't a legitimate possibility.

I'm sure Amare Stoudemire would be happy if the Phoenix Suns acquired someone to take over the center position for him most of the time. However even more sure that he would not be happy with that if it made the Phoenix Suns worse. Shawn Marion for Wright and another small forward is terrible.

Trades that make the suns a worse team are considered a bad idea. Trading Shawn Marion (a current all star and the second best player on the team behind Amare) for an also ran is a bad idea.
