Miami
Hey guys, Im still in DC but I read something interesting that I didnt see posted yet, granted it is hard to read a weeks worth of posts without the possibility of missing something.
Anthony Carter apparently didnt exercise his 4.1 mil exception with the Heat this year. Not sure what he was thinking, he will not get even close to that much from anyone else. However, that move puts the heat around 11 million under the cap, and that much closer to a max contract.

It seems that he assumed his agent would call Riles, and his agent assumed that he would call Riles, but neither one of them did, thus giving Miami another $4M in cap space. Now they have $11 M to spend on free agents.

I wonder how many of us would make a 4million dollar mistake?
Even if my agent DID call I would call myself

If I'm Carter I'm filing a lawsuit. Isn't this what the agent is supposed to do? Carter might not make $4 million over the rest of his career.

You're right Joe, it is agent's responsibility to handle things like that.
The question now is, who should Riley go after? O'Neal? Kidd? Arenas+ PJ Brown? Arenas + retaining Mourning?

The backcourt is already too crowded to be going after any guards.

Any chance Tom Gugliotta made a similar mistake?

I thought the exact same thing Eric. Jerry can kidnap Tom, Brian and FJ can take care of his agent.

Does Tom Gugliotta's contract have an opt out clause, or an option for another season? There's a big difference.

If he has an opt- out clause he is on the team unless he opts out. He doesn't have to call anybody or do anything.
If he has a player option, he has to call to confirm that he will exercise his option.
