I didn't watch the game so I have no opinion about this matchup but sure they do. As a matter of fact, I think refs are more likely to cause a blowout than they are to decide a close game. Calling a questionable foul or two on a key player early in the game can have a dramatic impact on the rest of the game. Establishing the style of officiating early can also result in an blowout. If you have a finesse team playing a physical team and the refs start calling a lot of fouls or go the other way and allow a lot of contact and the game will often turn into a blowout.

Knicks lost because Woodson knows only one way to play offense, force-feeding Melo.

#3. Amare will be as good as Karl Malone, barring further severe injuries!

ad #2: .. Gentry felt Nash's teammates were watching him too much and the offense had become stagnant.... "We felt like we were wearing Steve down," Gentry said. "He had the ball all the time, and he was making all the plays. .... One of the things we looked at was having more ball movement and more people movement but making sure he still had the ball at the end of the shot clock and still making plays . . . when he's fresh."

The Knicks were totally outclassed. They can blame a couple calls if they want but the vast majority of those offensive fouls were on the Knicks playing like morons and the Heat crashing the paint because the Knicks O is so predictable. The only way the Knicks dont get swept is if they get some white hot shooting nights out of Novak and JR Smith.
And Amare just looks sad out there. The Knicks are a MUCH better team without him. Their offensive spacing with Amare on the court is horrid (but thats not all on him) and his defense is as bad as ever.

Hey I'm not saying the Knicks were screwed. I made this thread before things got way out of control for the Knicks.
It's just sad when it's obvious some of these guys get special treatment, that's all I'm saying.

All that money, free agents, max signings, and all they have to show for it is a first round sweep
oops, scratch that, one win in the first round.
The Knicks have pieces but those pieces got them no closer, really, than the Suns.

Wow. Had Wade not swallowed the ball for the last 10 seconds, the Heat could have won the game. I honestly think Spoelstra has no clue how to set up last second plays. Goes back to last season. Tyson Chandler is out, meaning the lane is virtually open for penetration. Bad possession.

wouldn't even have come to that if melo didn't choke on the 3 free throws, went 1 of 3

the knicks play much better when the offense is ran through amare. its just that guards suck, no shooters penetration and passing from them.
