Iavaroni Coaching Possibility

Well, I know Iavaroni is a very good assistant and he has been getting some head coaching offers. He can stay with us next year for our championship year, but how about after that he becomes our Head Coach with D'Antoni staying as GM and President of Operations or w/e his other job is?

Ummm....why are we replacing D'Antoni? Because we think Ivaroni can be a good coach? Why would we replace a guy who has proven himself (in my opinion) to be a top notch coach for a guy who hasn't done anything as a head coach?

I'm just throwing some stuff out there. I don't believe we should take D'Antoni out of the head coaching spot, but he has a lot of responsibilities right now...

If D'Antoni were wanting to move into a GM position after all the years he has spent playing and coaching... I would be all for Ivaroroni becoming the Head Coach of the Suns. I think Ivaronni will make an excellent coach as he appears very intelligent and has a good relationship with the players and teaching big men.

Nasser and I probably think a lot alike here. I want to keep a talent like Ivaroni in the Suns organization. This would be just one idea to keep him and D'Antoni both here in Phoenix. However, it does not appear D'Antoni wants to move out of coaching just yet.

Maybe thats because he has coached like 4 years in the NBA now. Mike will not step down from coaching for a very very long time. He is far more likely to be fired before he gives up the spot

Keep trying, you are obviously trying the shotgun approach to spelling his name. One of them will be right eventually.

Thanks for the correction. I didn't realize I had spelled his name three different ways... all wrong.

I will try to spell Iavaroni correctly in the future. :

I agree. I just don't want to lose a quality person like Iavaroni to another team.

Greg Popovich has done it well in San Antonio. I don't see why D'Antoni can't.

On the financial matter, Sarver gets off cheap. If D'Antoni does get paid anything extra for being HC and GM. I am sure that it is not as much as BC was getting when he was here.

Y'all are crazy if you think D'Antoni's going to willingly give up his coaching gig to become a full-time GM. He's still young and wants to be on the court. This is not an aging Cotton Fitzsimmons longing for the full-time position of "vice president of nothing," giving in to the pressures to let young Paul Westphal take over the reigns. He's been to the WC Finals twice, and has a roster with credible reason to believe they could challenge for a championship for at least two more years. Yep, I'm pretty sure he'd gladly hand over the GM job to someone else if it became too much for him.

I also like Iavaroni, but someone has to explain to me why he would be a better head coach than D'Antoni. The grass is pretty green as it is.

It's a matter of opinion; not being 'retarted' or 'crazy.'

I just happen to think that, if push came to shove, they would not let Coach Iv walk away. He's a fantastic coach and I can see Coach D moving upstairs and handing the reins over to him.
