Can the Suns overtake the Lakers as the Pacific Division leaders?
The title pretty much explains it. What do you think? It seems the Suns beat the teams they are supposed to, at least in recent memory, while the Lakers are losing to teams they are supposed to beat easily.
Sure, the Suns don’t need the division title to make noise in the postseason, but it would better the odds of being a top 3 seed….
So what do you think? .5 games back of the Lakers, can they do it?

Of course they could. The West will be wide open till the last day of the season. The way the Lakers are playing right now, the Suns will easily take the Pacific. Even if the Lakers return to form, the Pacific probably won't be decided till the last game of the regular season. This is the tightest race I have ever seen.

The question is whether they want to. I think DA didn't want to win the Pistons and Celtics games so much that he experimented with zone defense there, maybe in preparation for post season. We handled one of the hottest teams in Philly rather easily with our normal man defense.
So, if DA keeps experimenting we might lose a couple more games than we normally would.

Maybe. The Lakers do have a somewhat more favorable schedule though.

It's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it. The Lakers have an easier final stretch.

The easiest way to ensure a top 4 seed is to win the division but the Suns will need help to get it done. I have been scoreboard watching the Laker's for a week now.
I find it amazing that we lost two games this week and the Suns are tied in the loss column. I thought we were still a game back.
It goes to show that there are no easy games in the NBA and anything can happen.

well if we win tonight and the lakers lose to washington on sunday, which they very easily could, then we'll take over the division lead. With pau and Bynum coming back soon, that position will be difficult to hold, however.

lakers lost? good.lol
i got tired of the espn updates, kobe now at 40pts. kobe now at 50pts. they still lost so whatever. he can score a 100pts, if they lose, its really doesnt help the team.
its going to be close, suns can overcome the division.
