Interview tips
I have two interviews this week for internships with a couple financial firms. Both internships are fairly competitive from what I hear. This is a big step for me in my pursuit of my career goals. I am halfway through school and am trying to get my foot in the door.
Does anyone in the industry have any tips to help me impress?
Thanks in advance.

Dress as nice as you can. Girm a firm but not too firm handshake. Make eye contact. Make sure you have questions for the interviewer for when they say do you have any questions.

Research each company and bring up some specific. Do your homework. People love that. Makes a lasting impression.
Definitely have two or three questions ready, not related to benefits, salary or anything like that. Make them about the company and its goals.
Good luck!!!

I told the principal in my interview for my teaching position "Maybe I'm a little cocky, but I'm smarter than most people"
I got the job.

She's got it right here. Make sure that you research the company that you are applying for. The harder the question the better. If you ask a question, and the interviewer cannot answer, it makes them all the more likely to be interested in you.

becareful of that approach though - i had a guy take a similar approach and we pretty much laughed at him after he left - kind of like "who tf is this guy?!"
however, do have confidence - especially in a finance related job - i spent two years at an options firm on a co-op and can say first hand you will not meet stronger personalities anywhere
go in confident - reinforce this confidence with a firm handshake, solid eye contact, stand when you greet people, etc - answer questions directly and to the point - do not get frazzled, I had a boss who would intentionally trip people up just to see how they reacted
aside from confidence be enthused - it can be hard to show much through the nerves - but if do your research and have some lead questions about the company and then seem impressed by the answers it can go a long way
remember it's a two way street - not only are you looking for a job, they are looking for the right person to fill it - be honest with yourself and get the information needed to see if you even want the position - if you do then why not show some excitement about it
i had an interview a couple weeks ago where the candidate wasn't as strong as we would like, but her enthusiasm led us to a second look (and may even land her a job...) - she knew about the company, loved what we had to say about it and spoke in a way where she showed that she gets business
if you can show that you get it and show you have the skill set to do it, then you have a big part of the battle won

Make sure you understand how the industry works, too.
If these are investment bank type companies, know about the research side and the sales side, etc. Know the industry terms like buy side, sell side...all that jazz.
Good luck!

Difference between that guy and this guy... This guy really does dominate.

Ultimately you are selling yourself. The question is what are they hoping to buy? Most people think that your accomplishments are what matter. They don't. Everyone has accomplishments. What matters is how you look and the impression you leave.
You need to be smartly dressed. Don't be drab in a black suit and a black tie. Add some color because it makes you memorable. Wear a nice watch. It gives you a touch of class and it shows you care about being punctual. Make sure your shoes are shined, it show attention to detail.
You need to be outgoing and personable. You want the interviewer to think that it would be a pleasure to work with you. Everyone wants to be around fun and interesting people. Make yourself that person.
The interviewer is going to ask you some questions you haven't prepared for. The key here is not to panic. They may ask you the stupidest question just to see how you react. When that time comes, you will be ready by taking a deep breath and answering HONESTLY. If you try to "tell them what they want to hear", they will know. They have had dozens of guys tell them what they want to hear. Be original.
