Rondo: I'm the best
Rajon Rondo says that he is unquestionably the best point guard in the league:
"I play the game to prove to everybody amongst my peers that I’m the best. No speculation. ‘Oh, he may be top three, top five, top 10.’ No, I’m the best" says Rondo, who shot 63% from the free throw line and 21% from beyond the arc last season while averaging 13.7 points per game.
Oh the fine line between confidence and arrogance.

LOL, they don't even need more than a single sentence to prove him completely wrong. I bet the entire Celtics team doesn't do any team-building--I can't imagine any Suns player acting like that.

While he isn't the best, there's more the being a good player than shooting % and points per game. If Nash wasn't such a poor defender he'd be the best PG to ever play the game. Likewise if Rondo wasn't such a poor PG he'd be the best right now.

Rondo is unquestionalbly one of the best PG's in the league. What makes him so good is that he plays both sides of the court. Having said that...it's laughable that he is the best PG in the league.
Hey...dreaming is free.

If you were starting a team and had to take your point guitar first using players right now (With age in consideration) who goes before him?
Paul
Williams
Anyone else? Maybe nash for leadership?

Curry, Wall and probably Westbrook. I'd take Tyreke Evans before any of them but I consider him more a SG.

Curry, Wall and Westbrook? Now you're being ridiculous. Rondo is a top notch PG. Paul and Williams are the top 2 and Rondo might be overall tied with Nash at this point. Rondo really is a badass....

Rondo is definitely better than Wall and Westbrook, but Curry is going to be a superstar this season. Plus he's a just a better kid than Rondo.

Westbrook and Rondo are pretty similar as far as their strengths and weaknesses but Westbrook is bigger, younger and more athletic. I actually prefer Westbrook's defense to Rondo's over aggressive gambling defense as well.
I think Curry has shown signs he can develop into an elite playmaker to go along with his elite shooting. I also don't think his defense is any worse than average and will likely improve. And again he is younger than Rondo.
Wall obviously has superstar potential which was why he was the runaway #1 pick. Since the question was "if you were starting a team(with age in consideration)" I'd absolutely take those players ahead of Rondo. If we were talking about the upcoming season I'd probably take Rondo.

Oden was a runaway #1 too. Let's see the rubber hit the road before we proclaim greatness....

Are you predicting Wall to have the same injury problems as Oden? Wall is a potential superstar and the NBA is a superstar league. I question his character issues but I'd still rather take a gamble on a guy I think might be able to carry a team than pick a guy I know is very good complimentary player.

I've been a big proponent of building a team around a PG like Rondo. I still am,and i'd have traded Nash for Rondo(hypothetically) 2 yrs ago if given the power...but comments like these are just another stupid way for a good young player to draw attention to himself and put a big red target on his back.
Dumb, Rondo....just STFU and play basketball. Your game speaks for itself.

bump:
assists
12.5(1st)
steals
2.46(2nd)
rebounds(PG's)
4.5(5th)
1.4 offensive(2nd)
FG%(PG's)
.515(3rd)
AST/TO
3.15 which is 4th among the top 10 assist leaders
Scoring(PG's)
10.6(33rd)
-one of the top defense players at his position
-durable
-poor FT shooter
-erratic perimeter shooter
The best PG in the league? There are alot of good, young score first PG's around now,and there are also alot of point guards who cant "guard" anybody.
Depends on what kind of basketball you want to play i guess.
FWIW I'm taking Rondo if im building a championship team. I'm quite sure i'm in the minority here(and thats ok ),especially among my fellow Suns fans who continue to be enamored with the offensive brilliance of Steve Nash.
