RIP: Ashlyn Horry (1994-2011)
The 17-year-old daughter of former NBA star Robert Horry died Tuesday of a genetic disorder so rare it did not even have a name when she was born.
Ashlyn Horry was born April 2, 1994 with the condition that affects the respiratory system. It later became known as 1p36 Deletion Syndrome, which is caused by a missing part of chromosome No. 1, AL.com reported.
The teenager died Tuesday of "severe respiratory issues and a host of other complications" after a six-month stay at Texas Children's Hospital, according to a report by Black Sports Online.
