I took Jesse Jackson's "slave mentality" comment with a bit of a cringe, but I gave it a pass because of how cultural history actually does carry weight with modern social thought and Dan Gilbert's letter was overboard, but I can't even go anywhere near this. Lebron didn't offer any basis for this and JJ actually did. Because of the lack of basis and context, Lebron is just pissing in the wind....

There was some discussion on the radio that if a white player did this the reaction would be different towards him. I'm not sure it would from my angle. I'm just tired of the "Look at me" stuff from all athletes.
Just because a few kids and a charity are involved with the decision, it was still 100% about LeBron and most people knew that just my watching it.
Some of the hate comes from his talent I think, I imagine a lot of people are getting tired of the EGO more than anything.

It falls under the category of "The Bigger They Are, The Harder They Fall". IMO, race is irrelevant in this situation. Larry Bird also would've skewered publicly had he done this, no doubt in my mind.
