$alary $tructure
Crap I hate bringing up touchy topics but here is another one....Salary Structure.
I researched the basic min salary/bonus structure the GLB issues - I also added in Eq. Costs and at what level they become available.
- My thoughts are this…at level 1 a new player has enough money to buy equipment.
- Typical starters will rise about 8 levels a season.
- We need player’s avg. level of 7-8 min. to be a good back-up.
- The newbies (lvl 1-6) will have to be developing on other teams...CPU or Human for about a year.
- During scrimmage games (at seasons end) we can toss out 10-day contracts to new lvl 1-4 players ($800/day) so they can get some spending dough when they go back into development. Sorta like Korean immigrants arriving off the boat...will be there with a envelope of cash to help them on their way.
After level 7-11 we kick in a flat bonus of $20k (plus whatever cpu bonus is generated) for a 3 year contract.
At anything at/above LVL 12…we lower the bonus to $10k...cuz by then they will really be raking in the dough.
Keep in mind I'm just speculating here with about 10 minutes of research.
I think this at least will help keep a nice balance to payroll while keeping the construction going on stadium upgrades.
Thoughts?

Reason: 3 year contracts are the Max.

It may be me - I couldn't find it in my 10 minutes.
I don't think that would affect our bonus plan for upper level players with the salary they are drawing.

Every 8 levels, is the equipment level increase. I had enough salary by training on low to pay for my level 8 increases. As long as I have the dough to pay for my level 16 increases, I'm cool with any amount of salary.

So I'll chaulk you up as a "no" to player bonus...but "yes" to minimum salary.

I'd rather get a salary bonus when I get to level 16 to pay for my equipment. So chaulk me up to a "yes" in player bonus, and "no" to salary.
There is no need for the money besides training and equipment for players anyway.

That makes no sense...we can only go as low as the minimum...at level 16 the CPU automaticlly kicks in a minimum bonus too.

Let me rephrase. If there is a minimum salary that GLB makes us pay, there isn't much of a need to discuss that portion of it.
I thought the debate was whether we should pay a higher salary than the minimum, vs bonuses. I'd rather train on low to conserve my money, and then whatever extra $$ I need to upgrade equipment would come from bonuses.

Sorry - I haven't seen a post on this thread saying pay a higher salary...except yer preference on yer guy. I got that.
But we need more than an opinion based on guessing - we need to see numbers.
The salary structure I'm presenting is predicated on setting a long term (3 year max) standard while also giving a bonus to take into account years 2 and 3 (inwhich a player will be roughly lvl 14 to 24). The intent is to keep up with both equipment costs and stadium upgrades.
I tried to come up with a system to jack up salary for long term contracts - with no luck.
I've presented numbers in this thread and an outline on what min. salary and higher bonuses can do.
This is no "debate" - I'm not "married" to my proposal - show us some numbers so we can make an informed decision.

Ok, I think we are on the same page now. You came up with this proposal to try to save money for construction......

...and to compensate folks making the team sacrifice on 3-year contracts by putting in a bonus program.
If sombody whacks out and trains on "intense" and hookers - that's his problem.
But if somebody (like you accurately suggested)properly manages their dough they should be fine going into year 3.

DCR - looking at my posts I sound like a dickhead. Sorry about that.
I'm sorta balancing real work with this stuff so I don't have much time to beat around the bush.
We're also in a bit of a time crunch with offseason moves.
