NHL Players can make more money playing in Russian League?

http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8...Russian-league

That is pretty interesting.

It would make sense too, since the game is way more popular in those nothern countries in Europe/Asia.

This should make things interesting, even more so as the dollar drops like a rock.

Maybe they should go on strike or something?

The problem is that they will tax the heck out of everyone there so they will end up making less money and there is not as much of a chance for endorsements there. It sounds good on paper for them, but in all reality it will not make much of a difference. Think about how many team left Canada. The U.S. makes if easy for Athletes and Team to be successful unless you are soccer.

In most cases, they can't get more money in Russia. The exceptions are typically Russian rookies who are on their first NHL contract can find a little more money overseas, or situations like this where every once in a while one of the billionaire owners will throw a ridiculous amount of money for a new toy without expecting to make that money back. Most teams in the RSL play in small arenas that seat less than 10k, they don't have close to the same revenues as NHL teams.

Lots of money promised, but will it be paid? Isn't this the same thing every new league says? Didn't Hershell Walker play in the USFL for more money and look where that got him.
