Favorite NHL Team While "Growing Up"?

I know that with the labor dispute far from being settled, there won't be much to discuss in this forum (unless the Coyotes hire a coach/retain Bowness or make some more acquisitions), so I figured that I would post some topics that might generate some interests on here....

I know most of us are transplants or rooted for other NHL teams before the Coyotes relocated from Winnipeg in '96, so I'm wondering what teams you rooted for/followed before becoming a fan of the Coyotes?

I was born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area, so therefore I rooted for the hated Red Wings for nearly 20 years.....Once I relocated out here in May of '02, I gradually switched (eventually completely) all my allegiances to all the professional sports teams in Phoenix/AZ.....

So who was your favorite team while "growing-up", and how and when did you begin to follow NHL hockey?

I've been in Tucson since 76. I started following the NHL after going to the IceCats here in Tucson around 1987 or so (can't remember exactly when). I then started to watch the Penguins and Mario (I don't know why the Pens, must have been the only team they were showing on tv) and I have followed them since. But of course the only team now to follow are the Yotes!

The Buffalo Saberes

Born in Buffalo

Love the Dominator (Dominick Hasek)

I was SOOOOO MAD in the Stanley Cup when the ref called it a goal (for the other team player).

HIS FOOT WAS IN THE CREASE!!!

I only like the Coyotes because they are in Arizona.

The Canadiens are still my favorite team, though I cheer for Phoenix when I can.

New York Islanders! Their goalie used to kick A$$! I mean it, he literally did! Lot's of penalty minutes by a goalie was a good thing!

Los Angeles Kings. Even before Gretzky. Rogie Vachon. Marcel Dionne, Dave Taylor & Charlie Simmer: the "Triple Crown Line". Tiger Williams. The "Miracle on Manchester".

Still my favorite team.

I'm from Chicago so I used to pull for the Hawks until The Yotes moved here.

His foot was in the crease, but he had control of the puck before it moved into the crease. GOAL!!!

Grew up in St. Louis. Brett Hull fan. Now, for obvious reasons, I follow Coyotes.
