Either way, the byproduct is this: A 73-year-old man (Olson) whose health has been questioned for years is coming off a leave of absence and trying to lead a program that is expected to lose its top two players (Jerryd Bayless and Chase Budinger) from a squad that just finished seventh in the Pac-10.
That's a tall order, and that Olson will likely do it without a single returning assistant -- while going through a publicly nasty divorce -- should make it even taller, and if McDonald's All-American Brandon Jennings doesn't qualify (he still has some serious work to do, I'm told) then Wildcat basketball could be headed toward its worst season in many decades.

Me too. I almost wonder if he's not confusing Jennings with buddy Demar Derozan since there's been talk he may not qualify at USC.
I know Jennings grades were an issue at Dominguez but that's why he went to Oak Hill in the first place I'd never heard any talk since then that he was going to have problems qualifying.

Come on. A UCLA fan should know that a kid with Jennings talent will find some way from the school to get in.

Sure guys typically get in but Parrish is a fairly well known reporter he's not the type that randomly throws out such comments. The fact that he mentioned it implies something.
Oak Hill is not one of the prepschools that just hands out grades. Durant for example had to leave Oak Hill for Montrose Christian because he wasn't getting good enough grades at Oak hill to qualify for college. Oak Hill is one of the prepschools that actually educates the kids it's not a diploma mill. If Jennings is there 2 years then it would really surprise me if he were not going to qualify.
Of course he has work to do, he's been traveling with his HS and All Star teams all spring. Jennings will be fine, in his interviews he sounds like a bright and motivated enough kid to get into college.

You would get a kick out of a couple of threads on a memphis board I was looking at. several of them are suggesting Pastner might bring Jennings and or Withey with him. Some even think the Parrish story helps their cause if he can't qualify for UA he'll probably be able to qualify for Memphis so he'll just follow Pastner.
The city of Memphis isn't exactly known for intelligent thinking.
I think it has more to do with the way Calipari recruits. They're so used to recruits being steered by worldwide wes or by their favorite prepschool coaches that they just assume hey hire pastner get his recruits, hire Kenny Payne from Oregon, get Dunigan.
FYI the coach of Oak Hill confirmed this last week he said Jennings needs to get a higher SAT score to qualify with his GPA and said while he expects him to qualify he's concerned because he's waiting for the scores in June now.
