Cats are in trouble if Bayless stays out
If Bayless misses anymore games the Cats are in trouble. They need his shooting, but they also need another body. Today's loss to Oregon showed how tired the starters got when it got into the last five minutes.
The UofA is looking at four road games against ASU, Houston, Stanford and Cal in the next two weeks and I think they could lose all four. When was the last time the Cats lost five in a row?

Cats are in trouble if they continue to play D like they did today. They don't have the offense to run up and down the court like they did in years past and beat quality teams.
Bayless is huge though, he's the best player on the Arizona team.

Arizona does not run and gun under KO. They are running a set offense. Bayless is the key to this team. He needs to play for them to have a chance but I hope he is 100% when he comes back.

Looks like Bayless is not going to play, this according to KO. He said it is a gametime decision but it does not look good. Bayless also said he will not jeopardize his knee for one game.
If Bayless sits, I say the Cats lose to ASU 72-62.

Thats disappointing. I don't want Bayless to tell the world he's not playing and then pull a Frazier. Him not playing sort of puts ASU in a lose-lose situation, if he doesn't play and ASU wins, out come the excuses. If he doesn't play and ASU loses, then its "OH MAN THEY DONT HAVE THEIR BEST PLAYER AND ASU STILL SUCKZORS TO THE MAX"
Furthermore, I was just looking forward to watching an elite local prospect play up close.

He is still questionable, according to today's paper. He is having pain when he cuts. If he is having any pain, I hope he does not play. Coming back one or two games too early is not worth it in the long run.

I actually hope he plays, because if he doesn't, ya'll will have that built in excuse of why you lost..... If he does play, and you guys still lose.... it will offically be panic time...
with the way ASU is playing.. if I was a U of A guy.. i would be really hoping bayless doesn't play....

I only want Bayless to play if he is 100%. If the Cats lose, I'm not going to panic. It would be a nice win for the Devils but just remember, the Cats are 44-6 against ASU since 1983. If Bayless sits out for another few weeks, than it will be pretty hard for the Cats to make the NCAA tournament. He makes a big difference. They beat Texas A&M and went to Illinois and beat them. They also lost at Kansas in overtime. If ASU did not have Pendergraph in the lineup, they too would be a different team.
I wish I could make it to Mckale North tomorrow but I can't get off work due to meetings all afternoon. Let's hope it's a hard fought clean game with no incidences.

point taken... but you must remember that it took a late run to beat Oregan St. at home, you lost to oregan, and a loss to ASU would put you at 10-5 and 7th place in the Pac-10... still PLENTY of time to come back, but certainly the worst case scernio for starting the pac-10 season...
I agree you NEED bayless to win... if Harden was out, so is ASU... but its college... You guys don't have that calming influence in Olsen anymore, and your still talking about the confidence level of 18-20 year olds...
i think a loss to ASU with Bayless would imply time to start panicing....IMO

Yeah, I'm going panic over a road L without our best player when we have the talent lined up to compete for a championship as soon as next year. Arizona is in a transition year, you've beaten us before in them (see 2002) and might beat us again tomorrow. Fortunately, starting last year Arizona started putting the pieces together to win championships which is more than you can say about ASU whose nucleus maxes out at the Sweet 16. Arizona will be fine this year and going forward regardless of tomorrow's outcome.

Like most here, I agree that we NEED Bayless to have any shot at a top 3-4 finish in the PAC-10. However, considering the style of play ASU runs, this is going to be a low scoring game. If Wise and Budinger can connect from the 3 point line, it makes it much easier to attack ASU's zone. The slow tempo of this game is going to keep both teams in it no matter what. Even if Bayless doesnt play, which I dont think he will, UA is much better off playing ASU right now then Oregon again and/or Houston, not to mention Cal and Stanford.
That isnt a shot at ASU, but its just the style of play and the fact that both teams match up very well with each other. Either way its going to be a good game, Harden has been on fire and if UA comes out slow in the first half again, it is going to be extremely hard to get back into the game with ASU's zone and their execution on offense.

Bayless is their leading scorer and a threat from the outside. Chase has not shown he can hit from the outside on a consistent basis. I just hope they can hit from the outside or they will be looking at a loss.
