They're going to ASU, it's been common knowledge for quite awhile now.
Can't blame them either, I bleed red and blue and would send my kid to Erickson over Stoops.

Dennis is a closer.

He can take up to 27 and it's looking like he will get to that number. If the Centennial (CA) boys commit - Bass, Lyons, McGee, we'll be at 24 and still have plenty of visitors coming in throughout January. Bass and McGee have academic issues so DE must have backup plans. McGee would also be a great signing because he's one of the best high school outfielders in the country and will also play baseball at ASU. Big names like Datone Jones, Jamaar Jarrett, Milton Knox, and Sean Renfree are still visiting and would definitely get a scholarship. It should be interesting
Word has it that Erickson has left open scholies for Ray Polk and Sean Renfree all the way until signing day. Polk, who was our #1 RB target in this class, remains a very strong possiblilty due to Colorado (where he's committed) more than likely signing the best RB recruit in the country. Renfree looks like a lock although our QB situation might scare him away. He's the best QB prospect to come out of AZ in a LONG time.

Scout.com is reporting ASU got 4 commits from 1/11 visits.
OLB Brandon Magee
OLB Shelly Lyons
DT Ottis Jones
RB Ryan Bass
Bass & Lyons are HS teammates, I know guys like Datone Jones, Sean Renfree, and a couple of UCLA commits are considering us but w/ 4 schollies taken up by the new recruits do we have enough to get these guys.

Bass, Lyons, AND Magee are high school teamates. Erickson is very smart in targeting these 3 because one of the best LB prospects in the '09 class plays on the same high school team.
We have 3 scholarships remaining with some big names on the board. We could get an additional scholarship if Battle (DB recruit from Desert Vista) redshirts next year (which he will) and runs track at ASU. He can be on scholarship with the track program in his Rshirt season and then he'd be on a football scholie next season. I bet that happens with all the prospects we still have on the board.
It will be even more interesting considering Erickson is holding scholies for Renfree and Polk until signing day. In a perfect world we would fill the last 4 spots with Renfree, Polk, Datone Jones, and Jamarr Jarrett. We need Polk because Bass' grades are a major issue

I forgot Magee went to Centennial, right. I saw you metioned the possibility of Polk de-committing, is he on the fence w/ his recruitment, even if the Buffs got the other RB would that cause a Polk defection?

It sounds like it's 50-50 with Polk right now but we have the momentum. Colorado is nearly a lock to land Darrel Scott (best RB in the country) and I think it's opened Polk's eyes. We were the first school to offer Polk and have been on him even after he committed to Colorado. IMO, he's a must get in this class
Don't forget that many regard him as a better DB prospect which is saying a lot about his athleticism

I wouldn't say Scott is a lock for Colorado. Texas is in the picture.

I think your number is right. There's a track scholie that was originally attributed to football by the services, I think.

Scotts uncle plays for the Buffs, he hasn't visited anywhere else, and he's supposedly been calling other big time recruits trying to get them to verbal to CU as well. All signs point to him going to Colorado and he would finalize a great class by Hawkins (assuming all their current verbals sign).
Polk said he is still a "firm" commitment to CU after his visit to ASU last weekend. IMO, he won't make up his mind till signing day and Scott signing with CU could change his mind.

Jamaar Jarrett verbaled to Oregon so he's out. Barbour is pretty much done and has zero chance of qualifying. Word has it he isn't even going to graduate and will play at GCC in the fall. Numbnuts
ASU has given Bass a detailed checklist of what he needs to do to qualify. Lets hope he does whatever's on that list because we need a RB in this class big time. Plus, the #2 all-purpose RB in the country is a solid addition.
I also have heard that Erickson may take up to 30 players in this class

Never understood how a kid can't put it together for a couple semesters so he can get a free ride to a school and a shot at the NFL. Or better yet, I can't understand how a kid's guardians don't get his butt in the classroom. My folks would've chained me to a freaking desk before they let me flunk out of high school or blow a shot at being on a top 25 college football team. I'd like to see Barbour back in the fold (every kid deserves a shot at an education no matter the rooting interest), but as we all know these JC routes rarely work out.
