Great win last night for the Devils. The beat #8 Michigan 15-4. Jason Kipnis had two homeruns including a grand slam and 5 rbi. Mike Leake started the game and went 6.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk. All four runs for Michigan came in the seventh inning. ASU hosts Hawai'i today at 4 PM.
ASU is putting the Beat down on N. Colorado as we speak. Wallace just hit another home run his 8th of the season, and Ike Davis hit a home run earlier to give him 7 in only the 19th game of the season!
Side Note: ASU has 33 home runs on the season as a team and the pitching staff has only surrendered 4. That is pretty darn impressive.
PULLMAN, Wash. - Facing a five-run deficit, third-ranked Arizona State hit three homers and scored eight runs in the ninth inning Sunday in a 16-13 Pac-10 baseball victory over Washington State.
ASU improved to 30-4 overall and 6-3 in Pac-10 play. Washington State is 19-15 and 3-6.
Marcel Champagnie's three-run homer in the ninth cut the deficit to two runs at 13-11. With two outs, Raoul Torrez singled, which brought up Ryan Sontag.
Sontag homered to right field, his second blast of the season, tying the score at 13-13. After a Brett Wallace single and a walk to Jason Kipnis, Ike Davis hit a three-run homer to right field, his 14th of the season, to give the Sun Devils a 16-13 lead.
Davis pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and improved to 4-0 this season.
He also hit a grand slam, double and single.
Champagnie and Sontag each had three hits, and Kiel Roling added two hits.
