LOS ANGELES--The UCLA Bruins are picked to finish first in the 2007-08 Pacific-10 Conference Men's basketball race, according to a poll of media members who cover Pac-10 men's basketball.
The poll shows that UCLA, the defending Pac-10 Champion, gathered 33 first-place votes and is picked the favorite this season. I have my doubts regarding Boateng but I think Harden will be the real deal. I'm not sure if I believe that he's a one-and-done prospect but you never know. Lets just hope these young guys learn/improve this season and are competitive in '08-'09

What doubts about Boateng? I think all the reports on him have been very reserved and realistic. No one is saying he's the second coming of Hakeem or anything. Everything I've read (and the exhibition game I saw) says he's a good defender, who's a bit foul prone, and a bit limited offensively. He hasn't been playing basketball nearly as long as most players, so he's understandably raw.
Also, I'd be shocked if Harden was one and done. From various interviews I've heard w/ Sendek, it sounds like he wants to avoid that situation, plus, if that was a players plan, why would he come to ASU where he's not going to have very good publicity and will be on a losing team?
I despise UCLA hoops. Hope Howland gets dengue fever, amoebic dysenteria, hives, chiggers and all manner of mean and nasty things, all at the same time.

I pray Collison hired Reggie Bush's agent.
If Ben was going to get Dengue fever it would have been a few years ago when recruiting Luc and Aboya from Cameroon.

Jeez, that's my opinion regarding Boateng. I went to the scrimmage and came away unimpressed. He plays very stiff, has very limited post moves, and is rather soft. I understand that I came away with these conclusions after only one game but he doesn't strike me as ever being a dominant presence in the post.
Harden was on ESPN.com this week and they mentioned that he's good enough to leave after a year. Why would he come to ASU if he had aspirations to leave after a year? Because he can play right away (and play nearly the entire game, every game. That wouldn't happen nearly anywhere, especially another PAC-10 team) and can get a majority of the touches on an offensively lacking team. He will be on display all year and if he has a huge season he could leave. I think he will be here at least 2 seasons
